Acidophilus Pearls Review - Does This Probiotic Work? Are lackluster formula and side effects deal breakers?

Acidophilus Pearls Review

Diet products either work or they don’t. Period. Let’s find out which one Acidophilus Pearls is. We looked into ingredients, side effects, clinical studies, and customer service. Then, we went on to sort through hundreds of reviews to see what people thought. We summarized and condensed it all for you to give you the bottom line.

What is Acidophilus Pearls?

To start, this is a probiotic supplement that’s supposed to aid in digestion to assist weight-loss efforts. Acidophilus Pearls ingredients include Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum (these are both live microbial food supplements that are non-toxic.) Others are palm oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin, soy lecithin, and pectin.

Acidophilus Pearls are made by Enzymatic Therapy. The company was founded in 1981. Products can be purchased online. We like the longevity, and their contributions to various non-profit organizations, but read on…

Ingredients – “Not Enough Probiotic Strains”

The first thing we noticed is there are not enough probiotic strains. The more a formula contains, the more effective the product. “There are several bacteria options to work with. Not all supplements are created equally, and quality is a definite issue with this one,” said our Research Editor.

”I am sure that it benefits some people in a positive way, but it wasn’t helping for my issues. IBS, leaky gut etc. Upon changing to a soil based probiotic, my gut issues started to correct themselves,” said one user.

”I honestly don’t think there’s enough good bacteria in the pill. I bought them, took them, noticed no difference and wondered what went wrong. Then I did research and discovered that I was supposed to look for a probiotic supplement with at least 15 billion cultures per serving(this product has 1 billion), and at least 10 different strains(I think this product has 2),” claimed another.

But others had a good experience with the product.

“I feel ‘regular’ and ‘productive’ for the first time in months and have a feeling that I had too much intestinal bacteria. These Acidophilus Pearls seem to be doing the trick for me,” said one dieter.

“Great little supplement for those who cannot eat yogurt. It is about the size of a pea, extremely easy to swallow and has greatly helped with my digestive issues,” offered a customer.

Side Effects – “Something to Worry About?”

We found numerous reviews explaining Acidophilus Pearls side effects.

”Constipated, bloated, cramps, you name it. It got so bad I started on a food journal again last week, keeping tab on everything that goes into my mouth for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” said a customer.

”I wanted to believe in using this pill because quite frankly I don’t eat much yogurt to get the healthy bacteria, but after about 2 weeks of using this pill my stomach started hurting & cramping. Once I discontinued use everything was back to normal in about a week/week and a half,” explained a user.

For many others, the product worked as intended

“This little daily pill has changed my life. For people suffering with IBS or lactose intolerance, this can make such a difference. You no longer have to know where every bathroom in town is and how long it takes to get there,” said a reviewer.

“I highly recommend this product for controlling yeast in the digestive tract. It has been very helpful for me in preventing yeast and urinary infections,” offered another.

Over the years, we’ve learned it takes just one thing, like ineffectiveness, to send customers running in the direction of the competition. They want something that works well, and safely and if Acidophilus Pearls isn’t the one, that’s a problem.

The Science – “There, But…”

Probiotics are proven to assist with digestive issues. The problem is there has to be enough active live cultures, and there have to be multiple strains for supplements to be effective. What isn’t there is a strong connection to weight-loss, which is an issue if that’s your end-goal.

At DietSpotlight, we want to see science before we can recommend any product, and we’re concerned about the quality of this one compared to others on the market today.

The Bottom Line – Does Acidophilus Pearls Work?

Should I race out for a bottle of Acidophilus Pearls? While probiotics can help digestive issues, they aren’t directly associated with weight-loss. And there are better quality supplements available on the market today. For these reasons, we’re hesitant to give the green light.

If you want to shed those extra pounds, why not try a weight-loss product with clinically tested ingredients? Then, to get even better results, use it with diet and exercise.

Among the best products we’ve seen in 2016 is Leptigen. It’s made with a unique blend of four ingredients, all of which have been shown in clinical studies to help support a healthy metabolism to promote weight-loss.

How Does Acidophilus Pearls Compare?

Previous Acidophilus Pearls Review (Updated August 12, 2013):

What You Should Know

Acidophilus Peals are a probiotic supplement that is to aid in your digestive system, which, in turn, is to aid in your overall health. Acidophilus are actually bacteria that support a healthy gut environment. The purpose of the Acidophilus Pearls are to give you easy access to that bacteria in a pearled-capsule that survives the acid in your stomach to move on to your intestines where they are to do their work in helping to eliminate occasional gas, constipation, and symptoms of lactose intolerance. Lactose Intolerance is the inability to breakdown the sugar in your system. This can be genetic or a result of aging and not producing the same levels of the bacteria that break lactose down. Since probiotics do not permanently reside in the body, daily and regular consumption is essential for it to work. These probiotics goals are to fix onto the intestine wall where they can multiply and work to enhance the immune system response. The proprietary blend of bacteria in this supplement claim to be able to affect the body’s microflora( which are bacteria that ferment in the gut to prevent foreign bacteria from remaining) so that the gut can operate at optimal levels.

List of Ingredients:

Product Details

Acidophilus Pearls are made by Enzymatic Therapy. This company was founded in 1981. On their website the company lists a various number of non-profit things that it’s involved in and claims a genuine respect and care for the consumer. The capsules themselves claim to contain 2 different live cultures that support your digestive system. The makers of Acidophilus Pearls claim to have an encapsulation process that protects the live bacteria and give them a shelf life of 18 months, which means you do not have to refrigerate the probiotic the way you would have to with other brands.

  • You can purchase the Acidophilus Pearls in almost every major grocery chain in the United States.
  • You can take the Acidophilus Pearls in place of eating yogurt, which is beneficial if you don’t like yogurt or you are lactose intolerant, yet need the benefits of the bacteria.
  • There are no artificial ingredients in the product.

  • You cannot purchase directly from the Enzymatic Therapy Labs website.
  • It’s another supplement that you have to take orally. This can be a disadvantage if you already take a lot of vitamins.
  • Lots of other research states that probiotics need to be refrigerated, period.

We wonder how well the probiotics found in Acidophilus Pearls hold up when not refrigerated. Studies indicate that for cultures such as these to be effective, they must be stored at temperatures much lower than those found in store shelves or warehouses.

    any side effect after taking
    acidophilus pearls?

I have taken them for months and am very happy with the results. No side effects at all, but they are a little expensive. I do find coupons in the Sunday paper fairly often.
