Alcalean by Primaforce is an Acetyl L-Carnitine supplement that claims to improve physical performance and help the dieter burn more fat without the impact of stimulants. According to research, carnitine levels are normal in many dieters, but in some cases where carnitine levels are lower than normal, supplementation may prove beneficial for weight loss and other conditions.

List of Ingredients

  • Acetyl L-Carnitine

Product Features

Acetyl L-Carnitine works as an antioxidant in the body. Typically, the body produces more than enough carnitine, which is stored in the skeletal muscles and brain. When the body does not make enough carnitine, the antioxidant support provided by taking a supplement like Alcalean can prove extremely beneficial for fighting off free radical damage and improving overall health.

Studies are available supporting the use of carnitine for angina, heart attack and heart failure. Other diseases studied include peripheral vascular disease and diabetic neuropathy. In terms of weight loss and exercise performance, however, the clinical information is lax. There are no studies supporting increased exercise performance when taking Alcalean or other acetyl L-carnitine supplements. There are studies supporting reduced fat mass and increased muscle mass, however. Studies on carnitine are vast and numerous, but few offer clinically proven, large-scale results.

As is the case with most supplement studies, L-carnitine is more readily utilized by the body when taken in natural food form. Red meat, dairy products, fish and wheat are all good sources of L-carnitine. Supplementation is often needed in cases where medications or health conditions inhibit the production or utilization of L-carnitine naturally.

Before taking Alcalean or any other natural supplement, it is best to ask your physician if you are taking prescription medications. There could be an interaction between herbal supplements and some medications so it’s best to ask.

The use of Alcalean or other L-carnitine supplement is generally considered safe. There is no toxic limit to carnitine, so dieters don’t have to worry about taking too much and there are no negative side effects to the supplement. With the large amount of clinical evidence that Acetyl L-Carnitine is beneficial for overall health, we see no reason why dieters shouldn’t take this ingredient in supplement form or try to increase their intake of healthy foods that contain L-carnitine.
