Assure Detox Review
What You Should Know
Assure Detox is a supplement by Total Eclipse. When we first started researching the supplement, we found several forum postings regarding the use of Total Eclipse Assure Detox for the removal of illegal drugs from the body to pass urine tests. The supplement is not designed for this purpose and is readily available on GNC.com. The ingredient list is a little different from other detox formulas we have encountered, specifically the use of creatine monohydrate which is commonly used by bodybuilders to facilitate muscle growth, not detox the body. Creatine is known to cause water retention, not water loss.
List of Ingredients
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin B12
- Guarana Seed Extract
- Echinacea Purpurea Leaf Extract
- Milk Thistle Extract
- Psyllium Seed
- Creatine Monohydrate
From our initial look at the ingredient list, we find no ingredients commonly used in detox supplements. There is milk thistle, which is thought to cleanse the liver, but there are no ingredients to push the toxins out of the body. Assure Detox should have diuretics or some form of laxative ingredient for this purpose, but none is included in the formula.
Running down the list of ingredients we find Papain; commonly used to calm the stomach and promote faster digestion. Guarana seed is a stimulant and source of caffeine. Echinacea is used to promote a healthy immune system and milk thistle to detox the liver. Psyllium is a healthy source of fiber that may have a mild laxative effect when taken with lots of water. Creatine super-hydrates the muscle.
So, what is the secret to Assure Detox? The secret ingredient is sugar alcohols. There are 19 grams of sugar alcohols per serving. Sugar alcohols are known to have a laxative effect and that effect is not mild. This supplement will cause cramping, bloating, gas and diarrhea. In some cases, the cramping can be severe. The ironic thing about using sugar alcohols as the laxative in Assure Detox is the fact that the main product description says cascara sagrada is not used because of abdominal pain associated with the ingredient.
- Will cause increased bowel movements.
- Includes an ingredient to detox the liver.
- Assure Detox will not remove illegal drugs from the body.
- Sugar alcohols will cause cramping and diarrhea.
- May cause dehydration.
- Will likely cause abdominal pain.
Assure Detox is designed to cleanse the body of toxins, but what it will more likely do is cause some serious cramping. Dieters need to be wary of taking supplements with a large amount of sugar alcohols. This supplement will not remove illegal drugs from your body, so using this supplement to pass a drug test is not likely to end well.
