Axon is a stimulant from Antaeus Labs. The stimulant is one of the new products recently released by the company. There is a long product description full of scientific mumbo jumbo that no one understands. This description has no real ingredient list. Then, one the purchase page of the website there is an ingredient list that shows just two ingredients. One ingredient is completely new to us and the other one is caffeine.

Dieters who want to try a trusted and clinically proven supplement for weight loss may want to go with another company. There does not appear to be any clinical proof listed on the Antaeus Labs website, though we know there is proof for at least one of the two ingredients.

List of Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • Hederagenin
  • Caffeine

Product Features

We read through the product description and scientific explanation of Hederagenin several times. While the information provided was pretty convincing, we also found some additional information that caused use to throw the red flag and issue a stark warning to dieters. Hederagenin is used as a pesticide. Any ingredient that has a side job as a pesticide has no place in the human body.

The second ingredient is plain, old-fashioned caffeine. Caffeine is used in everything from diet pills to soft drinks and it is even found in chocolate. One capsule of Axon supplies just 60 mg of caffeine so even if the dieter takes two or three, the caffeine level is lower than some diet supplements. One to two capsules would likely supply more than enough caffeine for the average dieter.

Advantages

  • All ingredients are listed on the Antaeus Labs website.
  • Caffeine is proven to boost metabolism and energy.

Disadvantages

  • Hederagenin is also a pesticide.
  • There is no mention of this ingredient’s other uses in the product description.

Conclusion

Antaeus Labs should skip the Axon and retire this one early. The use of a pesticide in the supplement formula is not something any dieter should accept. There are plenty of proven supplement ingredients that can be used in place of a pesticide. It is even scarier that the company talks about the effect of Hederagenin on the human brain, neuron, receptors and all that jazz. Again, we are left wondering if this company really expected dieters to take a stimulant fat burner created with a pesticide ingredient.

Safe and effect ingredients are available for dieters, including chromium, caffeine and green tea extract. Look for a company that offers testimonials, before and after photos and a money-back guarantee.

There are plenty of industrial chemicals that are approved for human consumption and/or have therapeutic indications. The fact that hederagenin is also useful as a pesticide, of itself, is neither here nor there. More relevant is the fact that it is poorly soluble in water and in all likelihood will be unable to cross the blood-brain barrier. It’s purported utility is supported only by rodent studies: the blood-brain barriers of rodents are more easily permeated than humans. Thus, these studies provide little by way of support for the manufacturer’s claims.
