The Trapper, a diet supplement from the Bodyshapers line of weight loss products, promises to deliver results by trapping fat before it can be absorbed by the body. It is supposed to be especially effective when taken before eating meals that are heavy in fats and sugars. This means that the consumer does not have to change either the types of foods they eat or the amounts in order to burn fat and loose weight. According to the manufacturer, The Trapper is one of the few diet pills on the market that combines the powerful ingredients Chitosan and Chromium picolinate in the same formula. This combination is said to break down and expel fat for effortless weight loss. This makes it possible to see  immediate results which will keep dieters motivated and focused on their weight loss goals.

Ingredients

Chromium as picolinate 100mcg, Chitosan 1000mg, Dicalcium phosphate, Microcystalline cellulose, Croscarmellose sodium, Stearic acid, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and Magnesium Stearate.

Product Features

The Trapper is an all natural supplement that fits best in the category of fat burners or absorbers. It does not contain any energy boosters or appetite suppressants, making it necessary for some to take a companion product with The Trapper in order to achieve a complete result. The primary ingredient in The Trapper is chitosan, a natural fiber derived from a substance found in the exoskeleton of shellfish. The manufacturers state that chitosan causes weight loss by binding fats in the body to prevent them from being absorbed, making it a kind of “fat magnet.” The Trapper claims to affect the fat prior to it reaching the stomach and thus it never has a chance to be metabolized. In essence, it creates a “grease ball” from this excess fat, which is too large to be absorbed by the body and is instead excreted. It is important to note that there are no clinical trials to back up this claim.

The studies cited by The Trapper were done on animals, and there is no research on human subjects showing any significant fat-blocking effects from this product. The secondary ingredient highlighted in The Trapper formula is chromium picolinate. This over-the-counter nutritional supplement works by stimulating the activity of insulin in the body, aiding one’s glucose and fat metabolism. However, the majority of scientific evidence so far suggests that chromium picolinate is neither helpful nor beneficial as part of a weight loss program.  The rest of the ingredients are included as fillers, although it should be noted that one-dicalcium phosphate-may inhibit nutrient absorption.  The Trapper can be found on a few retail vitamin and supplement websites. It seems relatively inexpensive at around $12.00 for a bottle of 80 capsules. But it should be noted that the makers suggest you take two to four pills before each meal, working out to about a dozen pills a day or a bottle per week.

Conclusion

The Trapper is one formula in the category of “fat absorpers” available on the market today. It does not claim to be an appetite suppressant or an energy booster. Instead, this product works with those types of aids by trapping fat and expelling it from the body. The makers of The Trapper would have the consumer believe that the body will automatically excrete any fat captured by the product. While the primary ingredient, chitosan, is known to act as a “super fiber,” there is no solid scientific evidence to suggest that it removes large amount of fat from the body.

The studies cited by The Trapper to back up its weight loss claims involve animals, not human subjects, making them questionable at best. Individuals who are looking for a weight loss product would be wise to look for one which has a reputation for being proven through numerous clinical trials. They should also look for a formula that is more complete and includes not only a fat burner, but an appetite suppressant and energy booster as well. A capsule that targets all three areas would to make losing weight more convenient and increase the chances that users will stay with it long enough to reach their goals.
