Dr. Simeon’s HCG Diet includes HCG injections and a very low calorie diet to boost weight loss. HCG injections are supposed to boost HCG levels in the body to promote weight loss. There is no evidence that HCG increase weight loss. The very low calorie diet supported by Dr. ATW Simeon, the creator of the original HCG Diet, is highly restrictive; reducing vitamins and nutrients with calories. The initial stage of weight loss lasts three weeks, with continuing weight loss lasting until the dieter reaches goal. There are strict guidelines and rules associated with Dr. Simeon’s HCG Diet.

HCG Injections, Very Low Calorie Diet.
For the first two days on Dr. Simeon’s HCG Diet, the dieter is given HCG injections. They are allowed to eat as much food as they want. Excessive food intake is encouraged. After the third injection, dieter intake is reduced to 500 calories. No sweets, sugars or starches are allowed during the three weeks following the third injection. Weight loss is likely to be very quick, but the result of eating only 500 calories per day is devastating on the body. With less food intake, the body may result to protein stores (muscle) for protein. This may cause muscle loss.
After three weeks of a very low calorie diet, the dieter is allowed to add some starches with weight being monitored. If weight gain begins, the diet is restricted again to boost weight loss. Clinical trials and research have found that diets below 500 calories can cause the metabolism to slow to a halt. When total caloric intake is increased, the body may store all extra food as fat just in case there is another time of starvation.
The HCG injections require constant physician supervision. This drives the cost of Dr. Simeon’s HCG Diet through the roof. The total cost of injections will vary from one physician to the next, but suffice it to say it will cost more than the average gym membership, reduced calorie diet and weight loss supplement combined.
The average daily menu on Dr. Simeons HCG Diet consists of tea or coffee for breakfast. Lunch and dinner include 100 grams of lean meat, one serving of vegetables from a provided list, one piece of approved fruit and one breadstick. No snacks are allowed on the original program. Tea, coffee and water are the only beverages allowed on the plan.
