What You Should Know
Estrodex is a testosterone boosting supplement that claims to suppress estrogen. For bodybuilders, it is important to boost testosterone levels to naturally increase muscle gains. In the past, prohormones were used to boost testosterone, but when a new law passed in 2005 banning most prohormones, bodybuilding supplement companies were forced to create new “prohormones” though most did not have much effect on testosterone levels at all. Estrodex is a S.A.N. supplement. There is an official website for the product where it retails for $39.95.
List of Ingredients
Calcium D-Glutarate, Urtica Dioica, Indole-3-Carbinol, 3,4,5′ TriHydroxy-Transstibene.
Calcium D-Glutarate is a calcium salt. There have been some positive tests regarding the impact of this ingredient on testosterone levels, but the same process by which Calcium D-Glutarate inhibits estrogen may can the same thing to happen to testosterone. This means when estrogen is lowered, testosterone is lowered.
Urtica Dioica is just a different name for stinging nettle. Stinging nettle is commonly found in bodybuilding supplements because it can link up with sex hormones and render them useless. These same sex hormones are responsible for linking up with testosterone and putting it to use in the body. If the sex hormones are taken out of the equation there should be more free testosterone, though this is just a theory because the reaction in the body and any increase in free testosterone has not been clinically measured.
Indole-3-Carbinol has been clinically studied as a potential cancer treatment. In the bodybuilding community, this cousin to DIM is used to prevent side effects from too much estrogen. There has been no testing completed to prove Indole-3-Carbinol will prevent increases in estrogen and thus bodybuilders are not dependent upon this ingredient alone for that purpose.
3,4,5′-TriHydroxy-Transstibene is Resveratrol. Wildly popular in the weight loss and anti-aging circles, Resveratrol increases testosterone levels in one rat study. There have been no human studies to effectively reproduce this effect outside of the rodent population.

Estrodex is not likely to increase natural testosterone or free testosterone levels. Dieters will see no increased weight loss when taking this supplement. It is also important for women to skip the Estrodex supplement in the case that testosterone levels are affected at all. Women have a natural estrogen, testosterone balance and though increase testosterone could increase metabolism it could also throw off natural reproductive and menstrual balance. Natural weight loss supplements with proven ingredients may be a better bet for dieters.
