What You Should Know
Halostane is a prohormone from Pro Cycle Labs. According to the small product description, the prohormone is supposed to work as part of a hardening stack. That basically means it will help improve muscle gains without causing extensive water retention. Some prohormones cause such a large amount of water retention that the body appears swollen and bloated. These are called wet prohormones. Dry prohormones typically cause less water retention. Halostane actually contains two prohormones – Halodrol and Cynostane. There are also a few other ingredients thrown in to increase absorption.

What is a prohormone and why do bodybuilders use them? Prohormones are testosterone boosters. Ideally, they are used for brief cycles of two to four weeks. After the cycle, the bodybuilder uses post cycle therapy to support natural, normal hormone levels and to protect the liver from damage. Combining more than one prohormone in a product means twice the impact in half the time, theoretically.
There is a long list of prohormones that are illegal for use in the United States. Moreover, prohormones are banned for use in competitions, including bodybuilding and athletic competitions. Testing for steroids and prohormones does take place and if an athlete tests positive, they will be ejected from the competition and could be banned from future competition.
Prohormones may decrease body fat when used in combination with exercise, but they are not used for the sole purpose of weight loss. Fat loss is due to increased metabolism, increased muscle mass and increased strength (as the user works harder in the gym.) The water retention may hide much of the weight loss and fat loss, but it is revealed after the cutting phase.
