What You Should Know
Hydroxynol is a fat burner with ephedra. The supplement appears to still be available despite the fact that ephedra is no longer approved for sale in the United States as a diet supplement. There is a chance this supplement contains a different extract from the same plant real ephedra comes from, but that doesn’t mean it will have the same effect on weight loss.

We’ve recently been reviewing quite a few ephedra-based supplements, all of which contain the same ingredients. There seems to be one ephedra formula being sold under different names. Each of the supplements lists ephedra as being the primary ingredient in the supplement. Some formulas contain the normal 25 mg and other formulas contain up to 100 mg. Hydroxynol contains 50 mg of ephedra, far more than proven fat burners.
Ephedra is associated with increased heart rate, hypertension and heart palpitations. This ingredient is not legal for sale as part of a diet supplement in the US.
Garcinia cambogia may be associated with liver damage. Some companies have pulled formulas containing this ingredient and replaced the garcinia cambogia with green coffee bean.
White willow bark is a natural form of aspirin. The blood thinning properties could make this ingredient dangerous for some dieters.
Green tea extract is proven to boost metabolism, but only in doses of 300 mg of more. There is only 50 mg of green tea per dose of Hydroxynol.
Caffeine is the main stimulant, aside from ephedra, in this fat burner. Strong fat burners contain 200 mg of caffeine. Hydroxynol contains 300 mg of caffeine. This is far too much caffeine for the average dieter, even if they drink lots of coffee and other caffeinated beverages throughout the day.
Hoodia is the appetite suppressant included in the formula, but clinical research shows hoodia is no more effective than a placebo.
- The complete ingredient list is published online in label format.

- Contains far too much caffeine for the average dieter.
