Jillian Michaels is a weight loss program that can be broken down into three branches; identifying personal weight loss goals, eating a healthy balanced diet and adopting a proper fitness regimen. Initially the Jillian Michaels system aims to address dieters as individuals. Each individual is supposedly assessed separately in order to determine their specific body type, weaknesses, daily activity and weight loss/fitness goals. Essentially the Jillian Michaels diet program is supposed to be customized for each individual user.

Three factors addressed in the Jillian Michaels program are “self, science and sweat.” Through the Jillian Michaels weight loss system, clients are intended to tackle three different aspects of staying fit, which are eating right, exercising regularly and acquiring sufficient support. One step in the Jillian Michaels system consists of developing “healthy habits.” A second step involves consuming foods that assist with weight loss, which are high in protein, but low in fat and carbohydrates. The final step is exercising regularly and sticking to a real fitness regimen. The official Jillian Michaels website offers a free weight loss assessment plan that can be filled out directly on the home page. Jillian Michaels markets a few weight loss books, DVDs and vitamins via her website. Jillian Michaels does not appear to promote any “diet drugs” or weight loss pills.

Product Features

The Jillian Michaels weight loss system is basically a three step program that aims to assist dieters with a weight loss and fitness routine. The key aspects of the Jillian Michaels program are eating right, adopting a fitness routine and accepting support through the website. This diet/weight loss plan does not focus on new-age diet drugs or medications that suppress hunger. The Jillian Michaels system aims to benefit dieters by offering a “new way of living,” which can only be achieved through acquiring healthy habits, eating right and exercising adamantly. This weight loss program costs four dollars per week.

Advantages

  • The Jillian Michaels program is conveniently available via the official website.
  • With the Jillian Michaels system, dieters do not have to take daily medications.
  • Free advice and a free weight loss assessment is offered via the official website.

Disadvantages

  • It’s tough to distinguish whether or not the Jillian Michaels program will work for you.
  • The Jillian Michaels system may prove difficult for some dieters since it’s a lifestyle change, as opposed to a simple pill or supplement that can be taken daily.
  • The Jillian Michaels system lacks any diet supplements that suppress hunger or burn fat calories.
  • Users are expected to employ the Jillian Michaels program on their own, which may prove difficult since no trainers or nutritionists are around.
  • Some dieters may be distracted by all the Jillian Michaels website features, since the official website is intended to be used regularly.
  • May cause constipation. (See reader comments.)

Conclusion

The Jillian Michaels weight loss system is unique in regards to the notion that it utilizes no diet pills or drugs. While this program does encourage healthy eating habits and regular exercise, some dieters or individuals attempting to lose weight may have difficulty altering their entire lifestyle. Since there are so many diet supplements on the market that mainly consist of taking a capsule with water, the Jillian Michaels weight loss program may not seem so appealing to some individuals who might prefer a simpler or less involved alternative.

Can’t find a contact number or address to address my complaint. The website has a ‘contact us’ section, but it goes to more product marketing. Can you even contact customer service? I’m beginning to think not.

I had the unfortunate experience of calling to order Body Revolution and encountering the beyond irritating recording which attempts to sell you more, more, more. It’s a constant hamering of sales. Horrible. Finally I’m connected to some stupid Carribean Cruise crap to SELL MORE junk! Oh my God. What an insulting gimmicky bunch of shit! When I called to cancel my order I got some frosty bitch. Does Jillian Michaels have any idea how she is being represented by customer service? I will never purchase anything from this company.

I just placed my order last night for the Revolution DVDs and was so irritated that before you can place your order they try to sell you six things before you can do it. Then today I was charged $16.99 for shipping and handling after being told on TV if you order in the next 7 minutes you get the FREE PRIORITY SHIPPING and then after calling Customer Service and waiting for 45 minutes told that it would be two weeks before my order could arrive and that the special shipping just means your order may get moved to the front of the warehouse…..doesn’t mean it gets shipped any faster. So far not impressed….hope the DVD’s are good.

I ordered DVDs with FREE PRIORITY SHIPPING and 3 payments of $35. That was 2 weeks ago. No DVDs yet, and they took 2 payments out this week, which caused NSF fees at my bank. I am thoroughly disgusted with Jillian Michaels and her customer service. I sure hope the DVDs are worth it.

Don’t spend your money on website membership. While I like her DVDs, her online program is nothing new and not worth it. Eat right and exercise? Thanks you, I knew that much.

I purchased one box of your “Detox and Cleanse” for myself and one box of “Jumpstart Kit” for my husband thinking it was a good idea to do a cleanse. On Thursday morning we started with the first 2 pills. Thursday evening we took 2 more as per the instructions. On Friday morning we took our morning dose. My husband (who left that morning on a flight) called to tell me he couldn’t get off the toilet and was having stomach craps. A couple hours later, I was having the same thing. It was like water running out of me every time I sat on the toilet. By Friday afternoon I was violently vomiting. Within a few hours, I was having dizzy spells and severe headaches (needless to say, neither of us took or nightly dose). By 1:00am (late Friday night/early Saturday morning) I was taken to the hospital where I was diagnosed with extreme dehydration.
I am SHOCKED that someone with the reputation of Jillian (which is why I bought the product) would indorse a product that could even potentially lead to this type of situation!

I started doing Jillian Michaels’ exercise. One week my knee hurt. The next week she had an exercise that arched the back. Were these regimens developed by her, or by some Army drill sergeant who has no knowledge of physiology? BTW, I have never had knee or back problems before this program.

    [Reply]

    Knee Injury

I am young and healthy but I also did Jillian Michaels exercise DVDs for two years and just had knee surgery as a result. The jump training, especially jump squats with feet turned out, injured my knees. I learned this type of jumping can be very harmful for females. I would not recommend her work outs. After everything I’ve been through, it is not worth it.

I just bought Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Fat Burner… I have PCOS which = very little results for hard work. For the past 2 months, I have been running for 2 hours a day, 5 day a week and on the 6th day, I do strength training & yoga. I have cut out all fried foods, allow myself 2 whole grain/whole wheat carbs a day, and I drink 100 ounces of water a day. I didn’t weigh on a regular basis in hopes that the results at the end of each month would make me jump out of my seat. At the end of month #1, I lost 2 lbs… Hoping my body was just in a slump, I began with month #2… at the end of this month, a 1.5 lb. weight loss. As you can imagine, it is very disheartening.

I have to take metformin (medication), along with birth control for my condition… Is it safe to combine JM’s Fat Burner with my medicine?

Also, has anyone had much luck with this? Or am I just wasting my time?

    Thank you!

If you eat RIGHT and do the exersice it will work (and the workouts are not easy). No pill, detox, fatburner, anything will help. Change your eating habbits and put the time in. THere is no quick fix just time and effort every single day. I love Jillian!

Jillian’s diet is a rip off of the Zone Diet, i.e. same % of C, P, and F. She adds a twist, foods that keep the tyhroid working efficiently. Strawberries don’t. Good recipes though.

I have been taking these pills for 2 weeks now. i did the detox first and i just started the pills. It does make me a little jittery and dizzy if i dont drink enough fluids but i have already dropped 8 pounds on it! i am very satisfied with it! I even have energy to do things way more than i did before! But like any type of dieting make sure you cut out the soda and get yourself working out and eating right. ( i cut out sweet tea and started just drinking XXX vitamin water)! Make sure also that you try to remember to eat because i have noticed that i forget to eat on this sometimes.

I watched Michaels at work on one of her clients last week, and I find her to be frightening. She was cruel and pushed this overweight woman, who had not exercised in 20 years, far beyond her capacity without building up to her extreme demands of this woman. This woman was in tears and collapsed several times. Does Michaels have a degree in Physical Therapy or her MD? Injuries are caused this way, as well as heart attack and stroke. I found her to be totally phony and insensitive to her client, and finally, downright dangerous.

I just think it is supper interesting i’m hearing “i did it for two weeks and no results 4 weeks and no result” Look I weighed 207lbs at my heaviest and standing at 5’4 that was serious I was a size 18…I starting SERIOUSLY eating right bam 20 lbs gone in 3 months…Then I got really serious and in 4 months I lost another 45…and guess what..even though I was hitting the gym 5 days a week for 3 hours I didn’t see results till my 2 MONTH! but I felt results…I was crunching 700 when skinny minis could barely do 10…I couldn’t do even 5 when I started…what I’m saying we are use to the easy way out…I miss my work outs and I’m starting back up again but it is a life style change. I got down to 135lb at my lightest and I gained again because I got comfortable. You want it then WORK for it!!

I can’t support anything that suggests or peddles a ‘detox’ program. The body is pretty good at that without pills or special diets. ‘Detox’ is a code word for ‘spend needlessly on unproven ‘science”. This is why we have a liver, why we have kidneys, why we have a spleen…

I have not tried her program. But to my knowledge, the FDA does not regulate any supplementation, this includes vitamins. Usually you will see a disclaimer on the side of all supplements saying that “these statements have not been evaluated byt he FDA” etc.

I bought this product not to loose weight but to do a detox and cleanse for my body. I am alittle dissappointed I have not seen any results. I did notice a little bit of a boost of energy but thats it. I am surprised Jillian would have a product like this that really I have read more nagative reviews than anything. I eat healthy and drink alot of water. I wanted a detox & cleanse product that works I dont think this product does!!!!

i just have to say that Jillian’s 30Day Shred works! I lost 35lbs in a couple months!I ate a low calorie diet and worked out to this video 3-5x’s a week! Also my husband lost 30lbs in 1 month doing the same thing! I think the Shred is awesome and it’s only 20min.s a day! it is pretty intense but well worth it!

    [Reply]

    Sarah

I love the 30 Day Shred workouts too… Yes, intense, but she reminds people in it that if you want to just work out for 20 mins, you have to workout hard. I love her comment in the Level 1 workout about- “People tell you, just take the stairs- that doesn’t work. You are capable of working out, and you are capable of working out hard”.

I just took the last of my 2 week detox/fat burning pills! First of all, it didn’t come with any kind of diet plan like most of them. I exercised everyday, watched what i ate, no caffeine of any kind of sweets, no carbs, and nothing! I feel no different, look no different, weigh no different! so annoyed. I made my husband do it with me and no change for him either. Do not waste your money on this!

Jillian Michaels program works if you are smart about it, just as the others do. You have to eat smart and you HAVE to work out. There isn’t a “magic” pill that is going to do it for you. It took work to put that weight on and it definately takes more work to take it off. All diet programs should start with at least a 7 day cleanse, if not longer. The toxic waste needs help getting out of your body, so the “good” stuff can start working!

    [Reply]

    Sandie

I totally agree with you. Our society has been brought on obesity and “diet” plans, not eating correctly and exercise. There is no miracle cure for anything, especially laziness and stupidity.

I do like Jillian. I enjoy the show and feel she and Bob are amazing. However to have more empathy for their constentats, I would like to see Jillian and Bob, do a last chance work out, in fat suits. See how easy it easy to work out at 200 lbs heavier than they are now. I think they are both amazing, but I would love to see more emapthy. The old saying, having walked a mile in someone elses shoes. Thanks, Carri Baddley. Salt Lake City Utah.

They have to work out hard to maintain their bodies as well. Empathy and babying these contestants id what got them to the point they are at. You can tell that they do care though, Jillian is always able to bring out the source of the contestants weight gain through her tough love and Bob usually supports them afterwards.

Well, some people are content to spend their entire lives obsessing about numbers on a scale. Apparently, they have time to spend hours imitating hamsters on a wheel and money to spend on expensive and questionably beneficial special foods. Most of us have more important things to think about and better ways to invest our cash. Narcissism as “health”–hmm. Not for me.

Jillian was over weight for a long time. Before you talk about somebody maybe you should research and find out if what you are saying is justified. Her being over weight is the reason she fights so hard to get people at a healthy weight.
