The Jillian Michaels Ultimate Shake is a meal replacement shake with 180 calories. The shake is available online, though not through the official Jillian Michaels website. The website does not list ingredients for the Jillian Michaels Ultimate Shake, either. We did find the product on Drugstore.com with a complete list of ingredients and nutritional information. The problem with most meal replacement shakes is sugar. Sugar is added, which may affect blood glucose response. There are non-calorie sweeteners that taste just as good as sugar. If these were used, diabetics could drink the shakes and the total calorie count with be far lower.

Each shake contains 180 calories, 4 grams fat, 1 gram saturated fat, 290 mg sodium, 16 grams protein, 7 grams fiber and 19 grams sugar. We like the protein and fiber content, but the sugar content is outrageous. Of the 180 calories in each Jillian Michaels Ultimate Shake, nearly 80 are from sugar alone. Sugar causes blood glucose to rise rapidly. When the sugar is metabolized, blood glucose drops. Often, that drop does not stop at the right place so glucose dips down too low causing extreme hunger and fatigue. The shake could have 80 fewer calories and reduced impact on blood glucose is Sucralose was used in place of cane juice.

Jillian Michaels Ultimate Shake is a meal replacement shake that contains fewer calories than a meal and more sugar than a dieter needs. At $7.99 per 4-pack, the price is higher than other shakes with less sugar. We suggest using a lean protein mix or an Atkins shake (or other low carb variety).
