In Australia it is all the rage to add fat burners to protein shake mixes as an easy way to get in your fat burner and your protein. Unfortunately, products like Ladybird Figure Tone use an ineffective fat burner that is associated with liver damage far too often. The remaining ingredients in the formula simply make up the protein powder.

Product Features

Many of the ingredients in Ladybird Figure Tone are proteins and vitamins. These make up a meal replacement shake, so we’re happy the company decided to support meal replacements in a diet protein product. However, the other ingredients are not typically used in protein powders.

The main ingredient we were interested in is the brindleberry. Brindleberry is nothing more than garcinia cambogia. The company tries to hide the true identity of the ingredient behind another name, but that doesn’t hide the potential negative side effects. According to reports from dieters in the United States, this ingredient is associated with liver damage. It takes quite a few reports of adverse side effects to get the FDA involved. Hydroxycut, a major diet supplement company in the US, worked with the FDA on a voluntary recall of several products because they contained brindleberry.

Licorice root is another ingredient with potential side effects, but not as included in this supplement. When licorice root is taken with a diuretic it can cause negative side effects. If a dieter is taking blood pressure medication or a diuretic, they should not take Ladybird Figure Tone.

Advantages

  • We found several websites with a complete list of ingredients for the supplement.
  • Contains a strong source of protein with few carbohydrates.

Disadvantages

  • Contains garcinia cambogia, which may be associated with liver damage.
  • Contains licorice root, which may interact with diuretics or laxatives.

Conclusion

Ladybird Figure Tone tries to pair protein and fat burners. While this can be done with great success, this supplement is not a good example. The garcinia cambogia turns a healthy, effective protein meal replacement into a dangerous supplement that could cause liver damage. Dieters with known liver problems and those taking medications for high blood pressure should not use Ladybird Figure Tone
