Lean FX is a stimulant free fat burner that claims to increase metabolism and reduce cortisol to help the dieter achieve a sleeker, leaner body. Stimulants are typically used to increase heart rate and metabolism. When a supplement manufacturer takes the stimulant out of the mix they often replace it with a mood-altering ingredient to help control cortisol. Cortisol levels increase when you’re stressed. This supplement claims to attack cortisol, so we may just find that mood-altering ingredient in the mix, which could cause more harm than good for some dieters.

List of Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • Cat’s Claw Root
  • Beta-Sitosterol
  • Aneurin DBE
  • Cha de Bugre
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine
  • 17B-Triol

Product Features

Cat’s claw root is derived from a woody vine found in the rain forest. The supplement ingredient works as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and diuretic. There is no connection between cat’s claw and weight loss or reduced cortisol levels.

Beta-sitosterol is a plant sterol commonly used to naturally reduce cholesterol absorption. There is some evidence that it could be used in the treatment of certain forms of cancer, but we found no connection between this ingredient and cortisol.

Aneurin DBE is the mood-altering ingredient we were looking for in the ingredient list. There is very little information on the ingredient, but we did find reference to improved mood and increased energy. Unlike caffeine, the energy boost is supposed to last more than 12 hours with no crash, but we did not find clinical research supporting this claim.

One search for Cha de Bugre and you’ll find thousands of websites selling products containing the ingredient. Mixed within those sales pages is a bit of medical information on cha de bugre. The ingredient is commonly added to diet products as an appetite suppressant. According to WebMD, there is no clinical proof this ingredient has an effect on appetite.

17b-triol may have something to do with immune system response, but even that wouldn’t be connected with cortisol.

Advantages

  • Ingredients are listed online.
  • Contains no stimulants.

Disadvantages

  • None of the ingredients in Lean FX have proven effects on cortisol.
  • Cortisol is not a problem for all dieters.
  • Lean FX does not increase metabolism or effectively increase weight loss.

Conclusion

While nearly every dieter would like to get their hands on a supplement that increases weight loss without stimulation, Lean FX is not the one. Cortisol is a problem today because stress levels are at an all time high. Dieters need to learn how to reduce stress, because it does more harm than just increasing cortisol levels.

I just started taking this in conjunction with an amplified creatine 189 and stacking it with whey protein as suggested by the manager at my gnc. I am doing this along with a high protein diet around 2000 calories a day max. This all in conjunction with a 3 day fat burning weight training and 3 days of aerobic swimming per week. I was told that this supplement is being used by all of the natural body builders right now and the results have been raved about. I’ll post again in a week or so.
