Lifeline USA has been in business for over 30 years and offers various portable fitness equipment items, one of which is the fitness cable. The Lifeline fitness cable is a portable alternative to weight lifting and is used to build muscle. The cables are 6 inches long and come in various degrees of resistance ranging from 10 to 100 pounds. They have an ergonomically designed triple grip handle that will allow you to interchange cables to increase or decrease resistance. Prices range from $17 for the least resistant cables to $30 for the most resistant cables. This price includes handles, one cable and a door attachment that you must use to anchor the cable while using it. If you would like to be able to interchange the cables for different degrees of resistance you must purchase additional Lifeline fitness cables at a cost of $8.50 to $18 depending on the resistance you are looking for. The cables are sold in 10 pound increments. Shipping cost for the cables ranges from $10 to $45 depending on how fast you need them. This looks to be a good physique toning option for those who are already in shape, but it may not be the most effective weight loss solution for those just beginning to get in shape.

  • Portable and lightweight
  • Lifeline uses dipped rubber tubing instead of extruded rubber which is supposed to last longer
  • Reasonably priced
  • Disadvantages

    • This is primarily a product for those who already maintain a satisfactory physical fitness regimen.
    • If used regularly, Lifeline cables must be replaced on average once a year.
    • To make the cables last longer, you must store in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight and you must wipe them down regularly which may be a hassle to deal with especially if used while traveling.
    • You must use a door attachment to anchor the cable which could pose a problem if you are traveling or if you are at home and do not have a good space in front of a door to do the exercises.

Lifeline fitness cables seem to be a convenient alternative to weight lifting when it’s not convenient to make it to a gym or if you are traveling. The cables are portable and lightweight and can be used by men and women of any age or ability. The varying degrees of resistance make the cable ideal for a wide variety of people and the cost is reasonable. However, if you plan on using the cables on a regular basis you will need to replace them on average of once a year and you must purchase additional cables if you would like to change your resistance. Also, Lifeline fitness cables do not appear to be sold in stores so they would always have to be ordered online. If you’re already into weights, this could be a nifty gadget, but if you’re just beginning an attempt at weight loss, this is probably more than you’re looking for.

You seem a bit bias in your review to me. Going with cables shouldn’t matter if you’re just a beginner. Also in the “Advantages” section you neglected to mention that the cables are quickly interchangeable; and you’re also making it seems as if you must use the door attachment to do any exercises, which you don’t because you can use your feet to hold down the cables and do many exercises this way. Lastly, you can get the cables and other accessories at Sports Authority.
