What You Should Know
Lumatrim is a weight loss supplement that claims to support natural weight loss by decreasing appetite to create a negative calorie balance in the body. A negative calorie balance is required to lose weight as the body needs to burn more calories than consumed. According to the description of Lumatrim, a deficit of 2000 calories, in addition to what the body already burns with normal body functions, is needed to lose one pound of weight. Does Lumatrim back up the claims of decreasing appetite and supporting weight loss?
List of Ingredients
Acai Berry, Caralluma Fimbriata, Resveratrol, Hoodia Gordonii, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and L-Taurine.
Acai berry is the first ingredient listed in Lumatrim. Acai berry provides anti-oxidant support for the dieter, but there are no weight loss benefits associated with the ingredient. Many weight loss products are sold with Acai berry as the main ingredient with descriptions linking the ingredient to weight loss and colon cleansing though no clinical evidence of such effects exists.
Caralluma Fimbriata is derived from a cactus plant similar to Hoodia Gordonii, which is also included in the formula. The cactus is supposed to decrease appetite and help regulate blood sugar levels. Only one study could be found supporting the appetite suppression benefits of this Lumatrim ingredient, but the study involved a small number of men and women who were given diet and weight loss advice as well as a Caralluma Fimbriata supplement or placebo.
Green tea extract is the most beneficial ingredient in Lumatrim. There have been numerous studies supporting the benefits of green tea extract on weight loss, but Lumatrim does not reveal how much green tea extract is included in the formula. Unfortunately, there could be just a splash and that would have no effect on weight loss.
Vitamins B6 and B12 are natural energy boosters. There are no known toxic levels of these vitamins so dieters can feel safe taking large amounts with no known side effects. Again, the Lumatrim ingredient list is vague and does not list how much Vitamin B6 or B12 is included in the formula.
Lumatrim is sold through a website membership program. If a dieter signs up for the free trial, they will be charged shipping and handling for the first shipment. After 14 days, if the trial is not cancelled, the credit card used for shipping and handling will be charged $49.98 twice a month until a cancellation request is received.
- Green tea is a proven weight loss ingredient.
- Ingredients are listed on the official website.
- Green tea extract is the only proven ingredient.
- The price is far higher than proven weight loss products.
Lumatrim does not offer a detailed ingredient list with total amounts included in the formula. This is just the first red flag. The price of a monthly membership is higher than comparable weight loss supplements with clinical trials to support the ingredient list.
