Mazindol is a prescription weight loss drug commonly used in the short term as a treatment for obesity. It is not used or available in the United States, but can be found in Mexico. It is also known by the name of Mazanor or Sanorex.

List of Ingredients

No specific ingredients list can be found.

Product Features

Mazindol is a drug that stimulates the central nervous system and thereby increases heart rate and blood pressure and decreases the appetite. It must be prescribed by a doctor, and you should take it only as directed by said doctor. Traditionally, it is taken one to three times a day before meals with a glass of water, though it can be taken with food if it upsets your stomach.

You should not take this medication if you have high blood pressure, have any hardening of the arteries, or glaucoma. If you have taken any sort of MAOI inhibitor during the last 14 days, you should not take Mazindol. If you have a problem or history with alcohol abuse, you should also stay away from this medication. Before beginning this medication, be sure to tell your doctor if you have problems with your thyroid, any anxiety issues, diabetes, or any sort of seizure disorder.

If you have any of the conditions listed above, you may not be able to take Mazindol or may require a lower dosage and monitoring. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not take too late in the day or you may not be able to sleep. Do not double doses of this medication. If you are pregnant, nursing, or may become pregnant, you should not take this medication as it is unknown whether or not it will harm your unborn child or pass through breast milk.

Use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery and alert your doctor immediately if you experience a severe headache, an irregular heartbeat, confusion and erratic behavior.

Advantages

  • May help with weight loss in those who are obese.

Disadvantages

  • Should not be used long term.
  • Should not be used without a prescription from a doctor.
  • Is not available in the United States.
  • Ingredients list cannot be found.

Conclusion

If you speak to a doctor and he believes this may be a good option for you, then by all means go ahead with it. The simple fact that it has yet to be used in the United States and no information is available on the ingredients is enough to turn most people away. When you consider this along with the side effects, it is more important and safer to take something that is proven to be safe, and combine it with a healthy, balanced diet, and exercise.

does anyone know if Mazindol is any better than Phentermine? I’ve been taking Phentermine for a month now and I’ve lost 5kgs but then my doctor changed my prescription to Mazindol. I feel comfortable with Phentermine but he’s already done the prescription for Mazindol… does anyone know if they are the same or which one is better?
