What You Should Know
Megaslim is a weight loss supplement once offered by Next Generation Supplements. The product is no longer listed on the official website, but a Megaslim Plus is listed with information coming soon. The original Megaslim formula contained large amounts of Bitter Orange and was the subject of several Australia news stories and investigations pertaining to health related issues in Australia and Canada.
List of Ingredients
Megaslim Plus – Citrus aurantium and camellia Sinensis.
The ingredient list for Megaslim Plus was found through a government health agency in Australia. The agency monitors supplements and reports on whether or not the product maintains legal standards set forth in the country. No amounts are listed for each of the ingredients, but one report from an Australian newspaper stated the recommended dosage of Bitter Orange, also known as citrus aurantium for the original Megaslim product was around 12,000-mg. Bitter orange was used by supplement companies when Ephedra was taken off the market. Some researchers and doctors have noted the same effects in the body caused by Ephedra and Bitter Orange. Megaslim is supposedly linked to two deaths in Canada, according to The Australian. Verification of these deaths could not be found, but information on the health issues related to taking Citrus Aurantium found in Megaslim were found.
Citrus Aurantium has been linked to strokes, angina and ischemic colitis. There have been no studies supporting the use of citrus aurantium for weight loss and some studies have even indicated the herbal ingredient could be more harmful than helpful as even a small part of a weight loss aid.
The Canadian Medical Association Journal, Military Medicine and Mayo Clinic Proceedings have all published articles about the potential adverse reactions to taking Citrus Aurantium.

Bitter Orange has been under debate by the United States FDA for some time now. Australian authorities are also investigating the ingredient. With reports of possible stroke and heart attack when using the main ingredient in Megaslim, dieters should be very wary of taking this product or any containing Citrus Aurantium. Bitter Orange can go by various names on an ingredient list including Citrus Aurantium, Seville orange, bigarade orange and marmalade orange. Dieters may be better off choosing a supplement without this ingredient.
