What You Should Know
Metabolife manufactures and markets several weight loss products that are divided into Phase 1 and Phase 2 products. Phase 1 is for initial weight loss and Phase 2 is meant to supplement other weight loss products and continue the weight loss.
Metabolife Extreme Energy is a Phase 2 product that claims to give the user a boost in energy needed due to the fatigue caused by the reduction in calories in a diet program. We find this logic confusing as there would be no fatigue if the user was taking an appropriate weight loss aid. For example, if someone was using Metabolife Ultra, a Phase 1 weight loss aid, there would be no need to Extreme Energy as Ultra contains caffeine which is a stimulant.
Metabolife Extreme Energy can be purchased directly from the manufacturer’s website. We did not find any indication of a money-back guarantee being offered. We like to see weight loss product companies offer such a guarantee because not only does it help the customer try the product without risk, it shows that the company stands behind its product. We were disappointed to not find a manufacturer’s guarantee on the Metabolife website.
Niacin, pantothenic acid, magnesium, guarana extract, Asian ginseng extract, green tea extract, yerba mate extract, eleuthero extract, rhodiola extract, theanine, maltodextrin, modified cellulose, caffeine, dicalcium phosphate, stearic acid, dextrin, red 40, silica, polyethylene glycol, dextrose, soy lecithin, titanium dioxide, glycerin, blue 2, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and sodium citrate.
For all of the ingredients listed in the Extreme Energy formulation, it is the 100 mg of caffeine that really provides the “energy”. Caffeine is a stimulant and can help suppress appetite and increase activity, which is why it is commonly used in weight loss formulations.
Asian ginseng has some scientific support for boosting energy levels and increasing metabolism. However, it is not know if it is present in a high enough concentration in Extreme Energy to be effective. Without customer testimonials, it is difficult to assess whether this product works for people or not.
There are no other ingredients in Metabolife Extreme Energy that set this product apart from hundreds of others. As mentioned previously, if a consumer chooses the right weight loss aid to begin with, they will not be experiencing fatigue and should be careful about how much total caffeine they are ingesting if taking Extreme Energy along with another weight loss product.
- Available for purchase directly from the manufacturer.
- Contains known stimulants.
- Not necessary if using the right weight loss aid to begin with.
- May provide too much caffeine if using with another product.
- No money back guarantee.
- No links to clinical studies supporting the effectiveness of the product.
Metabolife Extreme Energy appears to be simply a money grab and an unnecessary addition to anyone’s weight loss regimen. Fortunately, there are proven effective weight loss aids on the market today that contain ingredients like green tea extract and caffeine made by companies that stand behind their products with money-back guarantees.
