MetaboSlim is a weight loss supplement containing apple cider vinegar as its main ingredient. Regarded as the best “natural fat eater” in the market, this ingredient is said to boost your body metabolism and apparently has been used in weight loss aid for decades. According to Confidence USA, its primary distributor, MetaboSlim “reprograms” your fat cells and turns them into muscle. We did find quite a bit of data to back up the hype on this vinegar, but none that supports this particular claim. What we’re most concerned about, however, is a recent recall of one lot of MetaboSlim capsules that reportedly contained sibutramine, a prescription drug with a number of known health risks. Sibutramine seems to be an appetite suppressant restricted by the FDA because of potentially serious side effects, which include breathing problems, heart palpitations, depression, and psychological disorders. Apparently this sibutramine only appeared in one lot, though, and MetaboSlim is still endorsed by the New York State Department of Health.

Confidence USA is the primary producer of MetaboSlim. A 60-capsule bottle goes for around $55, but the required dosage of 6 capsules daily makes this a measly ten-day supply. They also offer a 90-day supply (9 MetaboSlim bottles) for $351, which saves you $144 but is still very costly as far as supplements go.

Active ingredients include apple cider vinegar extract, gynostemma pentaphyllum, endothelium cornem gieriaeya, fructus crataegi, microcrystalline cellulose, talcum, silica magnesium stearate, gelatin, and dicalcium phosphate anhydrous.

The official website doesn’t really say what these ingredients do, and there’s little information online about most of them. From what we’ve read, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum is a well known antioxidant, and fructus crataegi seems to have a cleansing effect on the digestive system.

MetaboSlim is to be taken six times a day on an empty stomach, preferably two capsules before every meal. A day’s dose therefore costs a little over $5, placing it on the high end of the market price range.
