What You Should Know
MLO is a sports supplement and nutrition company. Both food products and supplements are listed on the website. Four products are available for sale from the supplement line – Mus-L Blast, Super High Protein Powder, Xtreme Bars and BioProtein Bars. None of these products will increase fat burn because the ingredients are more for fitness rather than weight loss.
List of Ingredients
MLO Mus-L Blast: Whey blend, maltodextrin, fructose, soy protein isolate, soy lecithin, medium chain triglycerides, calcium carbonate, ascorbic acid, ferrous furmarate, dicalcium phosphate, vitamin E acetate, niacinamide, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, D-calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, thiamine hydrochloride, vitamin A palmitate, D-biotin, potassium iodide and cyanocobalamin.
Super High Protein Powder: No ingredients listed.
Xtreme Bars: Xtreme blend including soy protein, creatine monohydrate, soy crisps, roasted soy nuts, egg albumen, whey protein isolate and calcium caseinate.
BioProtein: Protein blend including whey protein concentrate, soy protein isolate, milk protein isolate, roasted soybeans and egg albumen.
Protein is the main ingredient in every MLO product. As the building block of new muscle, protein is important but consuming too much simply means the body will transform that protein into carbohydrates for use as energy. None of the ingredient lists differ from the hundreds of protein powders, bars or supplements marketed in every vitamin store across America, which means the dieter is paying for the MLO name and not a more efficient product.
It is interesting to note that MLO Mus-L Blast contains no creatine or nitrous, which are both common in “blast” style supplements. There is nothing more in that formula than a multi-vitamin, whey protein and soy protein. Any dieter can mix together whey and soy protein and take a multi-vitamin every morning for a fraction of the cost.
Super High Protein Powder may be a viable choice for bodybuilders, but every gram of protein contains four calories so more protein means more calories. With 22 grams of protein per serving, the supplement is not really “super high” at all. There are specialized protein supplements with as many as 50 grams of clean protein for dieters who really want to increase muscle mass.
MLO products are priced $10 to $20 depending on whether bars or powders are purchased. This price is lower than competitor brands, but competitors often include thermogenic ingredients and muscle building complexes, which may increase supplement price.
- Information and ingredients are listed on the website.
- Prices appear lowering than other brands.
- No fat burning ingredients are used.
- At least one product lists no ingredients online.
MLO does not offer one supplement, shake or bar for the dieter that will increase calorie burn. All products are protein based with added vitamins and minerals. While the cost seems lower than average, dieters can formulate the same type of product at home for far less money. Burning fat requires specific ingredients that increase metabolism and MLO does not include any of these ingredients.
