What You Should Know
Nutratrim is a weight loss gum designed to counteract energy loss associated with a reduced calorie diet. Two proven weight loss ingredients are also thrown into the gum to support healthy weight loss. No totals for any of the ingredients on the label are provided on the official website. We have no idea how much of each ingredient is included. It is not enough to list a proven ingredient, the company must include enough of that ingredient to support proven weight loss benefits. Dieters will not eat the gum so the ingredients are absorbed through the mouth and swallowed in saliva.
List of Ingredients
Sorbitol, Xylitol, Gum Base, Mannitol, Artificial Flavors, Gum Arabic, Citric Acid, Maltitol Syrup, Glycerol, L-Carnitine, Green Tea Extract, Guarana, Colors: Titanium Dioxide – Red 3, Aspartame, Acesulfame K, Carnauba Wax, Chromium Picolinate, BHT.
Sorbitol, Xylitol, Mannitol and Malitol are all sugar alcohols. According to the product description, the dieter can chew an entire pack of Nutratrim at one time for added weight loss support. This may not be the best idea. Sugar alcohols are associated with abdominal cramping, gas, bloating and diarrhea. Any sugar-free food product with sugar alcohols should list this potential side effect on the label.
Amidst the sugar alcohols we find three weight loss ingredients, guarana, green tea and chromium. Guarana is an herb that works as a stimulant similar to caffeine. Though the Nutratrim description claims the gum is caffeine-free it still contains a stimulant.
Green tea and chromium are safe and effective for weight loss, but the label lacks ingredient amounts. The dieter needs to know how much of each proven ingredient is included in the formula to ensure they are taking enough of each ingredient to support weight loss.

Nutratrim is marketed as a weight loss gum that controls appetite. We found evidence that the gum could have this effect, but we need more information to determine whether or not the gum actually works as claimed. The sugar alcohols are a major concern as they are known to cause diarrhea. Nutratrim claims the dieter can eat up to two packs at one time. This will surely cause cramping, diarrhea, gas, bloating and abdominal pain.
