OptiSlim Soup is an Australian product sold on then OptiSlim website. The OptiSlim weight loss program is a VLCD, or very low calorie diet. This means the program allows fewer calories than other weight loss programs. If a dieter eats fewer than 1,200 calories per day, they should do so under the care of a physician, not on their own. Very low calorie diets can lead to decreased metabolism, fast weight loss followed by weight gain and fatigue. Very low calorie diets are also associated with anorexia. There are three flavors of OptiSlim soup: pumpkin, chicken and tomato.

Product Features

While there is very little information on the total calories in OptiSlim Soup, we were able to find out more about the program and estimate total calorie intake per day when using the soups for weight loss. According to OptiSlim, the dieter will consume between 450 and 800 calories a day when three meals are replaced with OptiSlim products, including the OptiSlim Soup. There is no mention of how many calories are in each of the soups, but it cannot be any more than 200 to 250 calories.

The program looks similar to Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig in that the dieter is expected to eat the branded meals and add water and green vegetables to the menu. There is also the chance to add one 100 calorie snack per day along with three servings of fiber.

This program is clearly aimed at quick weight loss, but it does not teach the dieter how to cook meals and maintain a regular food intake while losing weight. Dieters cannot live off boxed meals forever. There are no reviews of the OptiSlim Soups, so the dieter has no idea if they taste great or horrible.

Advantages

  • Ingredients for the soups are listed online.
  • There are three flavors to choose from.
  • The dieter can take the soups with them on the go.
  • Supports lowering calorie intake to lose weight.

Disadvantages

  • Dieters should consume more than 800 calories per day.
  • Intense hunger will likely surface within two to three days.
  • The program suggests the dieter purchase OptiSlim fiber, shakes and meal replacement bars in addition to OptiSlim Soup.

Conclusion

This OptiSlim program is not ideal for the average dieter. The soup mixes are sold in Australia and may not be available in the United States. There are similar programs in the United States, however, including the Nutrisystem program and Jenny Craig.
