Phenorex is a fat burning supplement created by Gaspari Nutrition. Gaspari Nutrition typically makes supplements for bodybuilders. Fat burners are used by bodybuilders before a competition and during training to slim down the body and uncover muscle mass and definition. Typically, fat burners created by bodybuilding companies are much stronger than common fat burners. This is because many bodybuilding supplements contain a stimulant of some sort to improve energy during workouts. Taking stimulants for an extended period can cause desensitization requiring more of the stimulant to reach the same effect.

List of Ingredients

Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Selenium.

Thermogenic Amine Complex: Carnipure, Oxytropis Falcate Extract, Caffeine, Advantra Z Citrus Aurantium Extract, Paullinia Cupana Extract, 3,5 Diiodothyronine and 3,3 Diiodothyronine.

Product Features

The most common ingredients in Phenorex are caffeine and Advantra Z. These are the two strong stimulants we commonly see in bodybuilding fat burners. Caffeine is present in sodas, coffee and chocolate, but not in the concentrations typically used in fat burners. Phenorex does not list how much caffeine is included in the supplement so we have no idea just how stimulating it will be. Advantra Z is another name for synephrine. Synephrine became the most popular stimulant for fat burning when Ephedra was banned by the Food and Drug Administration. Synephrine works much like Ephedra without the level of increased risk. That does not mean there is no risk associated with taking this ingredient. Dieters can expect increased heart rate and blood pressure when taking Advantra Z.

There are some rarely named ingredients in Phenorex. Oxytropis Falcate Extract is a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient. In some cases, the effect has been compared to aspirin, which would make sense. When Ephedra was popular, caffeine and aspirin were included in Ephedra supplements to increase and extend the effect of the stimulant. Oxytropis Falcate Extract is used in Phenorex as an aspirin replacement. Paullinia Cupana Extract, the remaining unique ingredient does not appear to be unique at all. Paullinia Cupana Extract is another name for Guarana, another stimulant.

Phenorex sells for $35.99 per bottle of 120 servings. There is also a smaller bottle of 28 servings from the official website for just $15.99.

Advantages

  • Stimulants increase metabolism.
  • All ingredients are clearly listed on the website.

Disadvantages

  • There are several strong stimulants in the supplement.
  • This product may be too strong for the average dieter.

Conclusion

We support the use of stimulants to increase heart rate and metabolism, but only at the levels needed to get the job done. Phenorex is a strong stimulant created for bodybuilders who take stimulants on a regular basis during workouts. It is likely that the average bodybuilder could take Phenorex and see the fat burning results they need pre-competition, but the average dieter will not have built up the resistance to caffeine and other stimulants needed to take this supplement.
