Prevention Magazine printed a sample menu for the Peanut Butter Diet. Breakfast consists of fruit, whole grains, dairy and nuts. Peanut butter is introduced during lunch time when the dieter eats a whole grain peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The midafternoon snack packs in more peanut butter –completing the 4 tablespoons per day requirement. Dinner is a salad with lean cheese and chicken. Fruit is offered as the final snack of the evening.
Taking a look at the menu, the suggested meals are extremely light, but the peanut butter packs protein and fat so the dieter should not feel hungry between meals. Breakfast is extremely light and there is no snack between breakfast and lunch, so this could be a difficult time of the day.
Prevention’s Peanut Butter Diet is not suitable for people with a peanut allergy, but soy butter or sunflower butter could easily be substituted with the same taste and results. There is no cost for the Peanut Butter Diet, aside from an extra jar of peanut butter once in a while.
