Releana Review

Editor's Review: 3.9 / 5.0

What You Should Know

The weight loss product Releana is manufactured by the company Millennium Medical Spa LLC 1997. The official website for this company tells us that it is an advanced medical weight loss company. Although this company provides a number of solutions for weight loss, they market heavily their patent pending product Releana. Releana contains the hormone HCG which stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. The official website tells us that this hormone will break down abnormal fat in the body. However HGC is in fact a hormone which is produced in pregnancy and which is made by the embryo soon after conception. It is also a hormone which is used as a tumor marker as it is found in certain cancers.

Ingredients

Releana contains Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin.

Product Features

The official website for Releana is detailed, with contact information given should you wish to contact a representative of the company with any questions or concerns. There are also a number of testimonials on the official website written by those who have already used the company’s weight loss services and products. There are before and after photos posted on the official website by those who have used Releana. Millennium Medical Spa LLC, in order to back up the claims which it makes for Releana relies on research carried out in the 1950s by a British Physician known as Dr. Simeons. Dr. Simeons injected a number of women with Human Chorionic Gonadophrin and found that they lost weight. However no clinical trials to date have backed up the results of the trials carried out by Dr. Simeons. This makes the claims made for Releana rather questionable.

Advantages

  • There is an official website for the company which manufactures Releana.
  • There are testimonials and before and after photos posted on the official website for Releana.
  • There is contact information given should you wish to contact a representative of the company which manufactures Releana.

Disadvantages

  • Clinical Studies carried out do not back up the claims made for HCG which is the main active ingredient in Releana.
  • Some people may not be comfortable taking this hormone.
  • We cannot be one hundred percent sure that taking this hormone either orally or by injection is one hundred percent safe.
  • There is no evidence that if you take Releana it will procure superior results than other weight loss products on the market.

Conclusion

We cannot recommend Releana as we have concerns regarding certain issues. Firstly we could not find any independent clinical trials carried out on HCG which backed up the results found by Dr Simeons in the 1950s. Secondly we cannot be 100% sure that taking HCG is safe; after all it is a hormone which is found in certain cancers.

I just started the Releana program through Red Mountain Weightloss in Mesa AZ. I am only on day 2 and I have already lost 2 pounds I did also purchase the appitite surpressents Diethylpropion One 75mg for the am and 25mg for the pm. I have not been hungry at all so far, and I have plenty of energy. I don’t feel gittery and I haven’t had any kind of energy crash I just feel a little hyper after the am dose.

It’s upsetting for me that so many people have lost weight off the releana and nothing seems to work for me. I tried releana as last resort. I have done so many diets that i no longer have any will power to diet. So reading about it on the internet and how people just aren’t hungery. I read some even forgot to eat. It did not do a thing for me. I really needed the help of not feeling hungery. Also got phentermine doesn’t work for me either. Seems like something is wrong with me? I don’t know what? I am glad it is working for many others.

I also went to Red Mountain Day Spa and they gave me Relena in a tablet format. They said the pills were new and I’m concerned they may not be a strong at the liquid – has anyone else tried the pill form and what were your results?

Kristin, I just found an ad for Releana. I’m considering it but can you tell me what you found, what happened on your first visit. My one concern is the Cancer thing also! Thank you so much and make it a great day! Jacquie

    Kristin

they took my blood the first visit and gave me the releana, appetite surpressant, and potassium pills. they want you to eat only 500 cal a day with the releana. i can’t tell you how it’s working cuz i haven’t been able to keep the 500cal in check :( but i’m going to start trying again 2moro. oh yea, there is the thing called loading. you have to load up on fat and calories the first 2 days on the program to get it kick started or something like that. well, good luck. and as for the cancer thing. i didn’t find much, just google it and read what’s out there.

    Hello Tina,
I have been on the releana diet since Feb. 1st. and am doing very well over all. I do wonder about taking the HCG and if I might do as well on my own. I have a suspision that it’s really the 500 cal diet that makes the largest impact. The average person who eats in a healthy manner would likely consume around 1800 cal per day.
To answer some of your questions, YES you need to obtain it from a doctor, you MUST stick to the 500 cal daily as shown on the literature and yes it is expensive. Very expensive but if you are determined and dedicated to your weight loss… who knows. it could be worth it. I’ve lost 9 lbs in the 7 days since my”load up” days.

You mix the small vial into the large vial and mix it as well as you can. the you HAVE to keep in in the fridge. It won’t last after 60 days. I haven’t started mine yet and I can’t remember how many drops to take. If you remember…please email me back and let me know. Mtngirl735@aol.com

I have been taking a sublingual form of HcG for 3 weeks now. After reading your website, I started to question my Doctor about the type of HcG that was being prescribed to me. I was under the original impression that I was taking your Releana product. However, it was not, and I became VERY upset about this. I demanded that she change my prescription to the Releana. And she has complied.

My question is this – how should I proceed? Do I continue the VLCD and drops I am on now with no interuption and take the Releana or should I stop for a few days and “re-load” before I start the Releana? I am very excited about the Releana and do not want to sabatoge the diet before I begin. I have lost total faith in my Dr. to give me the correct information.

Hi Alexis. I’m in AZ and considering getting Releana and pills. I asumed I would pay no more than $300. I have to lose 20 lbs. I havnt seen the Dr. yet but I wonder how much I’ll end up paying when I reach my goal.

I did the releana about 3 years ago. It was 275.00 then for the drops and the initial medical visit. I lost 28 pounds in the four weeks. I didn’t stick to 500 calories. It said if I remember correctly 4oz lean meat for lunch and dinner. I did 7 oz every meal. I even had some beers one weekend and the weight still fell off. The only thing I will say is that you need to follow the instructions when you get off the releana. They call it the cool down period. I had a hawaii vacation right after coming off it and put about 7 lbs back on.I used the real releana when I did it. I have no experience with the less expensive stuff. My guess is you get what you pay for. Hope the information helps

    Cathy

I just found this site and have read the previous comments. I have to say I am shocked that there area people out there who are taking Releana (or at least they think they are) and yet they have no real knowledge of HCG other than they want to loose weight. This is not meant to be condescending, so do yourself a big favor and understand why you want to use Releana. Google Dr. ATW Simmeon and read his work (you can read it for free on the internet), “Pounds to Inches” so you can understand the role that HCG plays in your body (regardless of whether you are male or female, although men tend to loose more rapidly – read Dr Simmeons work)and how it works on your hypothalmus to reprogram how your body uses fat. It is about 44 pages, some of it dry, but consider it was written by a British Dr. in the mid 1950’s. It is enlightening. If you truly want to loose the weight, follow his diet strictly. If you want to cheat and have that cookie or that glass of wine, you are only cheating yourself. You will put yourself back 2-3 days on your diet goal. Releana is supposed to be only issued by a licensed physician. Why it is so expensive (unlike many sites that advertise HCG – which by the way is probably coming from China or India and is extracted from horse urine – yes, horse urine), is because Releana is a biodentical. It is taken from humans (not horses or other animals)and it is cultivated in both a sterile and controlled lab environment here in the USA. The reason it comes in 2 vials (powder in 1, liquid in the other) is that it cannot be transported well when it is premixed – you will do that yourself so you can refrigerate after mixing. It is imperative to the life of the HCG to be refrigerated. If you are using the authentic Releana, it has a .25ml and .5 ml mark on the dropper (you administer .25ml under your tongue and keep it there for 3 minutes; for proper abosorption you do not eat or drink anything 10 minutes before or after the 3 minutes it is under your tongue) this is done once in the morning and once in the evening (try about 30 minutes before you eat your dinner) – set a timer to make sure you are tracking the time. Expect to pay for blood work (as it is a prerequisite if you are using a legit Dr. – they want to make sure you are not anemic to start and that both your liver and kidney enzymes are normal)as well as paying for a Dr visit plus around $275+ for the Releana (add that all up and you are looking at about $500-$600 depending on who you see), but it is worth it if it takes off the weight you have been struggling with for years! The HCG has to build up in your hypothalmus for a few days before you stop feeling hungry – which is why the “gorging” on the first 2 days of the diet is critical to your success. Afterall, who doesn’t want to eat those chocolate covered donuts, creams, fried food and not feel guilty? The better your gorge, the more successful you will be the first week in not feeling hungry. You will loose the weight you gain on the gorge after the first day of the 500 cal diet. Keep it to 500 calories and you will see the weight drop – logical of course, but the HCG keeps you from feeling the hunger, plus you are eating nothing but amazingly healthy food. No fatigue or the shakes/jitters(unless you exercise, which you are not supposed to do on this diet). Many of us eat out of habit or when we are stressed, not because we are truly hungry. The diet is strict, it doesn’t allow you to pick your 500 calories (i.e. red/green peppers are not allowed, corn, carrots, potatoes, etc. are strictly forbidden – you might have thought they should be okay because they are healthy – not on this diet). There are healthy foods, however, that will comprise your 3.5 oz of protein plus your 3.5 oz of vegetable for lunch and a repeat of that amount for your dinner. You can have an orange for breakfast or your morning snack and an apple after dinner (always at least 6 hours apart). Spices make the difference – use black pepper, red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder – it is amazing how they can transform that otherwise bland piece of protein or veggie. Get creative, take it as a challenge. If you are getting your product from a reputable Dr., they should be giving you a list of what you can and what you cannot eat. It sounds crazy, but believe me, it works as advertised – at least a pound a day! Understand the product and then go loose some weight – good luck to you!

I have been on Releana since Feb 22nd, I take .25 ml twice a day and I am only down 23 lbs. I have been following the protocol 100% and have not swayed, nibbled, cheated, tasted absolutely not one thing. I have lost inches that is noticeable but I am fixated on the lbs that have not come off on the scale. Compared to the great results everyone has had, they aren’t so great for me. I still have 38 lbs to go. I drink 100 ounces of water a day and measure everything, the only difference that I have heard that I have not been doing is my Dr. said that it is OK for me not to have “Free Range Beef” and I don’t get a B12 shot every week, only once a month. I wonder how much that makes a difference. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    [Reply]

    Lynn

The same thing happened to me! There is such a thing as the protein deficiency… A simple to test is to follow the diet, but eat an extra boiled egg or protein one day. I noticed that if I did this, I would drop an extra 1-2 pounds. That’s your answer…. Simply go off the diet and re-start at a later date. Not many people have this, so there isn’t much information on other ways to solve it.

It’s DEFINITELY okay to go off the diet and re-start later. Simply make sure that you follow all the phases properly.

    Good luck! (Hope that helped).

Hi everyone. I have been on Releana Since Nov.31 I have lost 30 pounds. I do go up and down bc it is hard to stay on the 500 calorie. i do cheat with chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels. I have evenn been eating the nnew Pringles chips that have no fat. Otherwise I live on the prescribed meat and vegies with the apple snack. I do weigh them all as to keep to the 3&1/2 ounce maximum. You Dr. should give you the allowed meats and vegies. You can’t eat just any meat or vegie you want. There is a list. I still have approx.20 to go. My Dr. is a trained OBGYN Oncologist. she found my cancer in ‘94. I doubt seriously she would give me anything that has even the slightest chance of giving me cancer. The routine is weighing in at her office weekly anad getting a vitolite shot which is packed full of vitamines and nutrients the body needs that you may not get normally. We were recently on a cruise and I went off the strict regimen and ate every cchocolater desert I could get my hands on. I only gained 3 pounds the entire seek. I came home and sent back to eating as I have been, lost it and 2 more the next week. I am here to say it works but you need to find a Dr that is trained and uses ther entire program not just the drops. It isn’t cheap and you need to be willing to go the distance. I a looking forward to a tummy tuck whhen am I satisfied have lost enough. Hope this answers some of your questions.

I have been on the Releana since Feb 22nd and have only lost 23 lbs. I am very disappointed….i have followed the protocol 100%, I mean I have not even nibbled anything. I drink 100 ozs. of water and weigh everything. I have read about all the great results everyone has had and even know a couple of people who lost 40 lbs in 40 days and 33 in 6 weeks. I have lost inches that I have seen, but I am truly fixated on the lbs on the scale. I am really getting discouraged, some people say WOW 23 lbs in 6 weeks that’s great and to me I’m thinking not as great as others. I have 38 more lbs to lose and I had a specific goal to lose 20 lbs a month. I’m at a loss as to why my weight is hanging on. I am having to do an apple day today since I have not lost anything in 4 days. I will tell you this. I was told that I did not have to eat “Free Range Beef” and I only get 1 B12 shot a month and I don’t know if that is the problem cause I am following it to a “T”. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I have been on the Releana for 5 weeks & have lost 22 lbs. I am post-menopausal, but am not taking my hormones while on the program. I was told that taking hormones would slow-down the process. But, I feel fine. The doc also has me on Phentramine(1/2 pill in the morning), for cravings & to speed up my metabolism. I feel GREAT & have no cravings for sugar or wine, unlike before. I have lost MAJOR inches AND body-fat, but the lbs seems to be going up & down w/no loss in about a week. My doc sais it’s because my body is busy losing inches, & that it will go back to losing lbs soon. It is VERY important to eat ALL the food the dietn suggests. DO NOT MISS MEALS. This will only slow down the weight loss. I am having trouble w/that 2nd meal, but it has slowed me down, so I’m on an apple day & starting back on the 2 meals tomorrow. Kelly, don’t get discouraged, it’ll come off you’ll see…
    HUGS to you all,
    Heather

Why is HCG illegal in Canada and when will we ever be able to get on programmes such as Releana? Very frustrating!

Do you really think its the Releana causing all the weight loss? Or is it that you are on a 500 calorie a day diet? It would make more sense that if you are only eating 500 calories a day that you would lose a substantial amount of weight even without the releana…. Whats your opinion?

2 years ago I lost 42 lb.s in 4 months on Optifast. In my first month on Releana I have lost 20 lbs. There is a difference. The tissue in the fat areas is suddenly very soft – the fat has left the cells. That is the Releana working. I didn’t have that with the Optifast.

Sunny, I think you bring up a great point. My opinion is that the Releana is only causing people’s wallets to be thinner. Of course you will lose weight on 500 calories a day. It’s called starvation. Wonder how many people keep the weight off after a year?

I have been on releana for 1 week. it has a dropper that is marked .25 and .5. i take .25 two times a day. how much does everyone else take? i read that someone said to take 10-20 drops 3 times a day! just wondering how much every else has been taking???

and in case you’re wondering, i’ve lost 11 lbs. this first week. but i’m sure that’s just water weight. anytime you start a low carb diet, you will lose 8-10 lbs the first week from water weight.

I am trying to see if this will work. I had two days of eating whatever and after that tomorrow is the third day of the actual diet. I am starting to get less hungry but the problem is I am not seeing any difference in myself or my weight. In total tomorrow will be my 5th day taking Releana. I hear so many people loosing tons on their first week. I feel so discouraged:(

I’m on the second day of the diet. I feel shaky and weak. I’m extremely hungry all of the time and this afternoon I had a couple of bouts of diherrea. I need to lose the weight but I’m not sure these are normal side effects. Any comments/advice?

Actually the diarrhea is normal. Your colon is cleaning itself out or so my doc says. Same thing happened to me. You can increase your vegetable portion to about 5 oz each meal if your hungry.

I’ve been on releana for 3 days and have lost 7 lbs. I am following this diet perfectly. I take 25ml of the drops in the morning and hold it in my mouth for 3 min. and then 12 hours later at night i do the same. I do not drink or eat anything until 10 min after the drops. I am on the 500 calories a day diet. I weigh all my food out to 7oz a meal. 3 1/2 oz of my lean meat and 3 1/2 of my veggie. I’m allowed to have the juice of the lemon a day and also a tbs of milk. I’m only allowed to eat steak with no marble, chicken without the skin, buffallo or white fish. For a veggie i have cabbage, cauliflower, aspergus, and zucchini. Also you are allowed to have a orange or apple in the morning and one at night. You can not eat the same veggie for lunch and dinner or the same protein for lucnh and dinner, or the same fruit for lunch and dinner. I also have to watch the seasonings i use. I’m not sure how you can fail on this diet. Maybe if you are getting the fake stuff online thats a lot cheaper.

It’s been 8 days now and I’m doing much better. The first two days were very hard partly because I didn’t hold the drops under my tongue long enough. Now I’m struggling with missing carbs and cheese.

I have been on the releana since May 3rd and have lost 30 pounds to date. I have been at a standstill for the past week and am getting frustrated. Any suggestions? I am under the guidance of Red Moutain Med Spa in AZ, anyone else tried this place? Your results or experience? Thanks.

While releana seems to work, after 7 days on the diet, I went into ketosis. Releana is a crash diet that ultimately is not healthy for your. I understand the desire to lose weight quickly (as I need to do it to), but your muscles and brain will thank you if you stick to losing 1-2 pounds per week as most doctors recommend. Please do not use Releana as you put yourself at risk.

Hi! I need & want to lose 15-20 lbs but being older (61) & absolutely no metebolisum lucky if I lose anything, swimming, walking…nothing. Wondering, are there any health concerns, interaction w/other medications or vitamin supplements? Any feedback will be much appreciated. There is a Medical Group in Newport Beach, Ca that uses Releana… Thank you,

Hi! I have experienced the same thing some of you have. I followed the protocol 100% also…exactly 500 calories a day. I was losing weight but mostly inches. Only about 15 lbs but quite a bit of inches & have been told by many people that I look completely different but because I am more concerned with the lbs I don’t feel successful. After the 3rd week, I plateaued. No weight loss. My doc said since I was very dedicated, my body entered starvation mode at 3 weeks instead of 4 like most people. He instructed me to increase to 1200 calories & start exercising a bit. After 3 days of 1200 calories, I gained 3.5 lbs. He told me that it will come right off again since my body has to relearn not to hold onto any calories like it did when I entered starvation mode. I’m still taking Releana as instructed & will keep following a healthy 1000 – 1200 calorie eventhough I was depressed that I stopped losing weight & then gained 3.5 pounds. At lease I have learned portion control and healthy eating habits. BTW, I started at an 18/20 and am now a 14/16. Can’t argue with those results even if my total “lbs weight” loss was only 15 lbs…it shows in the mirror!

I am 40 going on 41 and have been overwt since youth, especially after having my 1st kids. I have approx 80 lbs to lose. Wish me luck!
