Cleansing supplements have jumped into the weight loss market with hundreds of supplements claiming weight gain is likely associated with a build-up of waste in the bowel. This is not true. The body will move waste out as needed. If there is a problem with occasional constipation, cleansing supplements may naturally solve this problem, but they should not be used for extended periods. Bowel muscles used to move waste grow lazy if natural laxatives are taken daily. This could result in a lifetime of herbal laxative use and potential side effects.

Sculpt and Cleanse does not reveal ingredients on the official website. We found ingredients listed a product description from a third-party vitamin retailer. There is a 35 day, empty bottle guarantee offered by Health Direct, the manufacturer of Sculpt and Cleanse.

List of Ingredients

Proprietary Blend: Cascara Sagrada, Senna, Psyllium, Turkey Rhubarb, Slippery Elm, Barberry, Aloe Ferox.

Product Features

The first three ingredients are common in all cleansing supplements. Cascara Sagrada is an herbal laxative. There are few cleansing supplements marketed today that do not contain cascara Sagrada. While there are no clinical trials testing weight loss benefits of the ingredient, there are plenty of customer reviews about the laxative effects of the ingredient.

Senna is another natural laxative. Psyllium is a bulk-forming laxative. This means the fiber source travels through the bowel collecting water to form a ball. The ball scrubs down the sides of the bowel as it moves out of the body. If there is not enough water consumed when Psyllium is taken, it can increase constipation.

Turkey rhubarb, slippery elm and aloe are natural laxatives. Each is used to increase the frequency of bowel movements. Some laxative ingredients also have a diuretic effect causing the dieter to continue running back and forth to the bathroom all day.

Barberry is an interesting ingredient. It is used in alternative medicine to treat diarrhea and loose bowels. The most interesting part, it is known to increase appetite. This doesn’t seem like a great ingredient for a weight loss supplement.

Sculpt and Cleanse sells for $29.99 per bottle.

Advantages

  • Ingredients found on third-party website.
  • Comparably priced with other cleansing supplements.

Disadvantages

  • Colon cleansing is not synonymous with weight loss.
  • Dieters may suffer from dehydration or constipation after taking the product.
  • Could deplete electrolytes.

Conclusion

Dieters looking for a quick and easy way to shed a few pounds overnight typically choose colon cleansers. Any weight lost while taking a natural laxative will return when the dieter stops taking the supplement. Natural laxatives can be addictive, causing serious problems with natural elimination. Cleansing should be used to treat occasional constipation only. Weight loss ingredients typically decrease appetite and increase metabolism.
