The Shape Diet was created in 1994 by David Heber, M.D., Ph.D., a world-renowned expert in nutrition. He is the founding director for the Center of Human Nutrition at UCLA. The Shape Diet, otherwise known as the LA Shape Diet, is based on the principle that the consumer’s body shape shows where they store fat and the diet is tailored to each shape’s needs. It uses protein shakes as meal replacements followed by meals of protein and vegetables, with little carbohydrates. It is a 14 day diet, divided into 2 phases, with each phase lasting 7 days.
