Solgar Omega-3 supplements are developed by the Solgar supplement company. The company has been formulating supplements since 1947. Each bottle of Solgar Omega-3 contains fish oil softgels with DHA and EPA. According to the literature on the official website, DHA is essential for optimal brain, vision and nervous system function. There is no information about why EPA is needed to improve health. None of the information on the product discusses potential weight loss benefits.

Solgar Omega-3 is sold in a variety of bottle sizes including 60, 120 and 240 softgels. Prices are not listed on the official website because Solgar does not sell the fish oil supplement directly. Third party retailers sell the softgels for $31.98 per 120 softgels.

List of Ingredients

Total Omega-3 Polyunsaturates, EPA, DHA, Gelatin, Glycerin and D-Alpha Tocopherol.

Product Features

The popularity of Omega-3 supplements is linked to an imbalance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids in the body. Research has noted that most people in the United States consume 10 times the healthy amount of Omega-6. This is because the main source of the fatty acid is linoleic acid, which is commonly added to processed foods. On the flip side, most of the same people are deficient in Omega-3. Solgar Omega-3 can help to bring balance back to fatty acid intake and thus reduce the chance of negative side effects and health concerns related to consuming a fatty acid rich diet that is out of balance.

Without proper amounts of Omega-3 in the diet, consumers may have a higher risk of heart disease and bad cholesterol. Taking an Omega-3 supplement like Solgar Omega-3 is a healthy choice because there are no added Omega-6 fatty acids. Currently, the common ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 intake in humans is about 10:1. The optimal ratio should be 4:1 or less.

I have been taking this for a long time but only recently did I find the 120 softgel sized package on Amazon. I could not be happier with your products!!! Omega 3 is the big deal because we are bombarded with sources of Omega 6 but not the Omega 3s. Solgar really beats all the others out here in the land of the health conscious or health seeking of all ages Thank you for your work. Carole Kanny on Long Island — CaroleKanny@gmail.com
