Rita Matraia, the founder of the Core Connection gym, is a Certified Personal Trainer. She chose to start the Core Connection as a means of balancing work and life. She has a background in business and exercise, so running the gym is the ideal situation.

The Core Connection focuses heavily on Pilates and Yoga. There are several instructors in both categories, including a male Yoga instructor that is 6’2” tall and 230 pounds. The idea is not to perform Yoga perfectly, but to feel the power of Yoga while burning a few calories in the process.

The Core Connection is a personally owned gym. There are no franchises and no higher ups to change rules, workouts and classes on a daily or weekly basis. The company does not have to promote anything other than a great workout experience, and that they accomplish with a long list of classes and personalized workouts.

Classes at the Core Connection include boot camp cardio, group training, cardio Pilates, beginner PT and more. There is a definite focus on Yoga with ten Yoga classes, including Big Guy Yoga and Heated Vinyasa Flow. The Core Connection is not a full-time gym. The instructors are busy with their “other” lives and the work / life balance so the gym is open only a few hours, three days a week. Workouts are held on Mondays from 10:00 AM until noon, Thursdays from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The hours may change depending on personal and trainer schedules.
