What You Should Know
Thermogen is a fat burner that once contained ephedra. When ephedra was pulled from the diet market, it was replaced with other stimulants in most products. In Thermogen, the ephedra is replaced with synephrine, a common ingredient related to ephedra, but without the FDA ban holding it back. Unfortunately, ephedra was proven to boost metabolism and increase weight loss and that cannot be said for synephrine.
List of Ingredients
- Citrus Aurantium
- Chromium Picolinate
The four ingredients in Thermogen are not the best, but they certainly will have some effect on weight. Citrus aurantium and guarana are stimulants. These ingredients will increase heart rate and cause the body to burn more calories. Clinical support for these ingredients is lax compared to the research supporting green tea and caffeine, but guarana is typically standardized for caffeine content so the dieter gains the benefit of caffeine without it being added to the formula.
L-carnitine is clinically proven to increase weight loss, but only if the dieter does not produce, store or properly utilize the L-carnitine taken in from diet and created in the body. If the dieter stores enough L-carnitine for normal body functions, this ingredient will have no effect on weight.
Chromium picolinate is a natural appetite suppressant. It helps control blood glucose response during digestion. Instead of glucose spiking and then falling drastically, causing hunger and cravings, it remains within normal limits and thus hunger is avoided. The effect of chromium is natural, there is no feeling of nausea. If the dieter is accustomed to overeating, chromium may not be strong enough to suppress habitual hunger.
