Twinlab Amino Fuel combines protein, amino acids and maltodextrin (carbohydrate) into one supplement for bodybuilders. The supplement is not intended for use by dieters, but there are a number of vitamins in the supplement so it could be used as a meal replacement shake on the go. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and may promote muscle growth and recovery. Carbohydrate is added to the formula to move protein to the muscle. The supplement is simple, by comparison to other bodybuilding protein powders, but it contains no creatine so the bodybuilder can use the supplement during bulking and cutting phases of bodybuilding.

List of Ingredients

Purified water, hydrolyzed gelatin, fructose, whey protein isolate, glycerin, citric acid, black cherry flavor, maltodextrin, natural red grape, egg white hydrolysate, cellulose, choline bitartrate, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, d-calcium pantothenate, niacinamide, cyanocobalamin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin phosphate, thiamin hydrochloride, biotin, folic acid.

Product Features

Twinlab Amino Fuel is a liquid protein supplement with 15 grams of protein and 10 grams of sugar. The formula contains only 120 calories and it can be added to juice or water to create a protein drink on the go. There is vitamin B12, vitamin B6 and other B vitamins in the formula, but the majority of vitamins found in meal replacement shakes are not included in the formula.

This is a lean form of protein that may help eliminate hunger. Dieters can choose to take the supplement as a source of protein with a salad or other vegetables while consuming fewer calories than a lean cut of meat.

When mixing with liquids as a protein replacement it is important to choose calorie-free liquids. Adding this formula to sugared juices will increase the impact on glucose response and could cause hunger and cravings. Bodybuilders need the carbohydrates to move protein into the muscle, so adding the formula to sugared juice during the bulking phase is safe.

Advantages

  • Twinlab Amino Fuel is available in two flavors.
  • Contains protein and carbohydrates.
  • Promotes healthy muscle growth and recovery.
  • Protein may reduce hunger between meals.

Disadvantages

  • No allergy warnings are present.
  • Designed for bodybuilding not dieting.
  • Does not contain ingredients to boost metabolism.

Conclusion

Most protein supplements are available in powdered form. These typically do not mix well in milk, juice or water, but Twinlab Amino Fuel is a liquid formula that mixes in any liquid. With 15 grams of protein, the formula supplies just enough protein for a quick shot of appetite suppression, but the 10 grams of sugar is a bit more than the average dieter would like to consume. Consuming too many carbohydrates in one meal may cause a dip in glucose and cravings.
