Ultimate Iceman Ultimate Lean Protein claims to be an effective meal replacement shake with lean protein, reduced carbohydrates and no aspartame. The product is even lactose free, but what makes this product more effective than other proteins and why will it increase weight loss or help “lean” the dieter? Ultimate Iceman lists all ingredients in Ultimate Lean Protein and none makes this product unique among hundreds of other low-carbohydrate protein supplements.

List of Ingredients

Whey Protein Concentrate, Maltodextrin, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Lecithin, Acesulfame Potassium and Stevia.

Product Features

The only ingredient in Ultimate Iceman Ultimate Lean Protein is whey protein concentrate. This is the same ingredient in most protein powders. Aside from being lactose free, there is nothing that sets this powder apart from others marketed to bodybuilders and as meal replacement shakes, aside from one small problem; there are no vitamins and minerals listed on the label.

In order for Ultimate Iceman Ultimate Lean Protein to be used as a meal replacement shake it needs to be fortified with vitamins. Just because the protein powder is a source of protein and calories does not make it ideal for meal replacement.

The ingredient label puts a lot of emphasis on the amino acid profile. The fact is all protein powders contain amino acids, including branched chain amino acids. This is not a selling factor; it is just how protein is made up.

The lean aspect of the name is likely associated with the fact that Ultimate Lean Protein is low fat. With only 1.5 grams of fat per serving, the powder contains only 126 calories per scoop. This is not enough calories to account for one meal. The dieter would need two scoops to constitute enough calories to replace a meal. Two scoops contains 252 calories, 3 grams of fat and 50 grams of protein. That is far too much protein for a dieter to consume at one meal. The body turns extra protein into carbohydrates and that is exactly what a dieter is trying to avoid when drinking a protein shake.

Ultimate Lean Protein sells for $49.95 for two pounds of powder. This price is a bit higher than comparable protein shakes. We did not find a free trial available for this product.

Advantages

  • Ingredients are listed on the Ultimate Iceman website.
  • Protein is a healthy source of lean calories.

Disadvantages

  • There is nothing more than protein in the supplement.

Conclusion

Ultimate Iceman Ultimate Lean Protein does not have all the vitamins needed to be a meal replacement shake and there is too much protein to double the suggested dose to meet meal replacement calorie requirements. This supplement may be ideal for a bodybuilder but not the average dieter.
