What You Should Know
Unbound Energy is an energy drink available in three varieties – Unbound Energy, Unbound Energy Lo-Carb and Unbound Energy plus Juice. Unbound Energy Lo-Carb is generally the same as Unbound Energy, but the sugar is replaced with a low carbohydrate sweetener. Unbound Energy plus Juice combines the energizing power of Unbound Energy with healthy fruit juice. The energy drink is not designed for dieters with metabolic disorder or diabetes because it contains a high level of sugar and glucose is added. Sucralose, a calorie-free sweetener, is also added to the formula, but we have no idea why Sucralose is added when the drink contains traditional carbohydrate-rich sweeteners.
List of Ingredients
Carbonated water, sucrose, glucose, citric acid, taurine, sodium citrate, glucuronolactone, caffeine, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, natural and artificial flavors, inositol, panax ginseng root extract, niacinamide, caramel color, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, sucralose, artificial colors, maltodextrin, cyanocibalamin.
Product Features
Most energy drinks include a combination of caffeine and B vitamins to boost energy. Unbound energy is no different. Vitamin B6 and B12 are both included in the formula, though in lesser amounts than most other energy drinks on the market. The Energy Blend is a bit different because glucose is listed. Glucose is the most basic form of sugar. The body quickly uses glucose for energy, but glucose is not safe for many dieters. Glucose will cause an instant increase in glucose levels, which may cause hyperglycemia or death in diabetic patients.
The ingredient list does not spell out how much caffeine is included, but it does have the second highest concentration among all ingredients in the Energy Blend. The total mgs of the Energy Blend are 1,000.
Caffeine may work to increase energy for a short while, but with prolonged use the body gets used to caffeine. Soon, the dieter may find they need to take more and more caffeine to gain the same stimulation. This leads to caffeine addiction and negative side effects like dependence on caffeine to prevent daily fatigue.
One can of Unbound Energy contains 220 calories, as much as the average diet meal.
Advantages
- Contains healthy B vitamins for a natural energy boost.
- Contains caffeine.
- All ingredients are listed on the official website.
Disadvantages
- The ingredient list does not reveal how much caffeine is included in the supplement.
- Dieters with diabetes should not take this supplement.
- May cause caffeine addiction and dependence.
Conclusion
We are not impressed with Unbound Energy. The drink includes several sources of simple sugars. Simple sugars cause a sharp rise in blood glucose and a subsequent drop. That drop is the cause for hunger and cravings between meals while dieting. Cravings are one of the top reasons why dieters fall off the wagon. This drink is not designed with people with diabetes as it contains glucose and may cause an unhealthy rise in glucose levels
