The diet is essentially an organic diet that is hard to follow outside of the area, unless you’re willing to make a lot changes in your lifestyle. The Utah Diet is essentially a diet that combines organic fruits and vegetables with game meat. It is highly restrictive because you are not allowed to eat anything that you cannot grow or raise on a farm or on a ranch. Getting back to nature is a good thing because following this diet is naturally low in fats and bad carbohydrates. This type of diet is very similar to what the Food Pyramid tells you, which means any doctor or nutritionist will recommend it to you, too. However, for most of us in the “real” world, a diet like this is hard to stick to because of the restrictions associated with not being able to have processed foods (something many of us rely on in a hurry) or sugar. The diet is based on nature and keeping things as pure as possible, which also includes exercise while getting back to nature. It recommends doing things like biking and hiking in the mountains. This is a good thing for people who live in and around the Moab, Utah area, but the fact is that for many people, it’s just not possible. Think about people who live in major cities where gardening and getting back to nature is nearly impossible… this is what makes the program most difficult.
