Vitalicious is a product company that sells reduced calorie muffin tops, buns, mixes and sandwiches. Most products have a calorie count between 100 and 150, which is ideal for the dieter, but they also contain sugar. Sugar has no nutritional benefit it only adds calories to a product. There are viable options to sugar, including sucralose or Splenda that can be used for baking. Typical Vitalicious Vitatops, the most popular product sold by the company, contain between eight and 10 grams of sugar equaling 32 to 40 extra calories. There is a sugar free option, but the dieter still consumes 14 grams of net carbohydrates in each serving. Sugar alcohols are added in place of sugar. Sugar alcohols can cause gastrointestinal distress and diarrhea.

Product Features

Vitalicious sells muffin tops, brownies, muffins, cakes, buns and sandwiches. The products are sold for dieters who want a simple way of tracking caloric intake while upping vitamin and fiber in the diet. The products are very expensive. The buns, for instance, are 100-calorie English muffins and sell for $4 per 6-pack. High-fiber 100-calorie English muffins are available in the grocery store for less than $3.

Vitalicious does offer some dieting information that could be useful to the dieter. For instance, it takes 13 to 15 minutes of walking to burn off 100 calories. If the dieter wants to burn 500 calories doing exercise, they would need to walk for more than one hour to accomplish this task. The total calories burned during exercise depend on dieter weight and fitness level, so this is just an estimate.

Products are sold through Vitalicious, so the dieter does not have to find the product in retail stores. Vitalicious partners with several outside diet plans, including Weight Watchers and Hungry Girl. Some products sold by the company are approved for use with these diets.

Vitalicious offers a unique solution to weight loss. The dieter can order prepackaged muffin and muffin tops, along with other food items, that contain fiber, vitamins and healthy nutrients. When used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise, they could ease the stress of meal planning. These products are not created to induce weight loss or promote metabolism, so the dieter cannot simply add Vitalicious products to their diet and expect to lose weight. The products are expensive and can only be ordered online.
