Yogi Tea Fasting, or Healthy Fasting as the new formula is called, is a support tea for dieters who choose to intermittently fast while trying to lose weight. Yogi does a fantastic job of listing information on all tea varieties they sell, including ingredients and information on how to properly brew Yogi Tea. The ingredient list is a bit concerning, because while fasting dieters tend to lose water weight quickly. Yogi Tea Fasting contains diuretics, something the fasting dieter does not need.

Product Features

Ingredients of note in Yogi Tea Fasting include garcinia cambogia, burdock root, dandelion root and yellow dock root. Garcinia cambogia has been linked to liver damage, but the link is currently under investigation via clinical study. The voluntary recall of products containing the ingredient by major weight loss company Hydroxycut was enough to raise concern. We suggest dieters skip products containing garcinia cambogia until further research is completed.

Burdock root, dandelion root and yellow dock root are all diuretics. These ingredients are the major cause for concern with Yogi Tea Fasting. Fasting means skipping food and drinking liquids in place of food, in most cases – a liquid diet. If you skip all food and replace food with liquids you will naturally lose water. Your body does not need extra support from diuretics that force even more water and fluid out of the body.

Fasting is not a safe and effective means of weight loss. The weight you lose while skipping food is just water loss. If you fast for a long period your body will turn to muscle for energy. That means the body will break down protein, or muscle, for the calories it needs to sustain basic bodily function. Muscle loss results in weight loss, but it can also hinder overall healthy reduce muscle tone and strength.

  • Yogi Tea Fasting contains no tea.
  • Garcinia cambogia may be associated with liver damage.
  • Three diuretics are added to the tea to increase urination.
