If you want to drop some pounds, like when taking Hydroxycut, there are some foods you should add to your diet!

Science has proven that some of the foods we eat can help reduce appetite or boost your body’s ability to burn calories. And, some foods can even do both!

There are a number of different natural substances in foods that can help you burn fat, including protein and fiber; like the amount found in 310 Shake.

Here are 8 foods and drinks that are scientifically proven to burn fat.

#8 Lean Meat and Fish

There’s no better nutrient than protein to help you lose weight.

Protein is an essential nutrient because it is found throughout the body and is necessary for chemical reactions crucial for body function. (1)

And, protein has been proven to help you feel fuller, longer. (2), (3)

Lean meat and fish are excellent sources of protein because they contain lots of nutrients, but are relatively low in calories and fat. (4)

Several scientific studies provide evidence that eating a diet that high in protein can increase calorie burn by up to 100 a day. (5), (6)

In one study, women who ate protein as 30% of the calories in their diet ended up eating 441 less calories each day and lost one pound of weight each week without consciously cutting anything from their diets. (7)

Eating a protein rich diet can also help you avoid snacking between meals and help you reduce the chance of regaining weight you’ve already lost. (8), (9)

So, if you’re interested in dropping a few pounds and keeping them from returning, adding extra protein daily is a good option.

However, bear in mind that calorie consumption does still matter, so it may be a good idea to track your foods for a while until you get a good feel for eating enough protein while still maintaining a healthy caloric intake level.

What You Should Know:

Adding lean meat and fish to your diet can keep you feeling fuller longer, boost your metabolism, and help you lose weight. Try increasing your calories from protein to 30% per day.

#7 Nuts

You may have been told to avoid eating nuts when you’re trying to lose weight because they are high in fat, but the truth is that they are one of the best foods you can eat to promote weight loss.

Nuts are packed with lots of the nutrients your body needs, like protein, fiber, vitamin E, and good fats. (10)

One of the things that makes nuts such a good choice for weight loss is that their structure makes it difficult for the body to get the calories that are in them. As a result, up to 15% of the calories found in nuts aren’t even absorbed into the body. But, you MUST consume nuts in moderation as they tend to be higher in calories. (11)

Some of the healthier nuts are walnuts, raw almonds and cashews.

The high fiber and protein in nuts help your body feel full without having to eat large quantities. Studies even suggest that their crunchy nature signals your body to feel satiated sooner. (12)

Studies show that eating nuts can lead to weight loss and help to shrink waist size. (13), (14)

In one study, when people ate a low-calorie diet that included almonds they lost 62% more than those who ate a parallel diet but included complex carbohydrates instead of almonds. (15)

What You Should Know:

Nuts are a satisfying and healthy addition to a weight loss plan. They can keep you feeling full and help you shrink your waist size while adding important nutrients to your diet.

#6 Boiled Potatoes

When you think of eating potatoes, you probably think of French fries, mashed potatoes made with lots of butter and cream, or loaded baked potatoes—all of which are really fattening.

But, did you know that plain, whole potatoes are actually fantastic for helping you lose weight?

Susanna Holt, PhD has developed something called the satiety index, which provides information about how satisfying a food is in terms of its ability to fill you up.

Basically, the satiety index takes a 240 calorie serving of certain foods and compares them to the satiety level of white bread, which is 100. The foods are then assigned a satiety level.

French fries score a low 16 while boiled potatoes are way up at the top of the scale with a score of 323! This means that the 240 calories worth of boiled potatoes is going to fill you up better than the 240 calorie serving of French fries. (16)

So, if you add boiled potatoes to your diet, you’re going to feel fuller and that means that you will eat less of other foods and reduce your calories without even thinking about it.

Recent studies have indicated that potatoes contain protease inhibitor II, which is a kind of protein that may cause the body to use food more slowly, thus increasing the length of time it takes for the stomach to empty (affecting the digestive system)  and reducing food intake. (17), (18)

To make boiled potatoes work even better for your weight loss program, try cooling them before you eat them. Boiling and cooling potatoes causes them to contain higher levels of resistant starch.

Resistant starch is a fiber that takes the body longer to digest, so you feel fuller longer. (19), (20), (21)

What You Should Know:

Boiled potatoes score high on the satiety index and contain resistant starch, which can help you fight hunger and eat less overall.

#5 Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has become a hot topic in the health world lately. Probably because it’s gone from being demonized as a fat to being held up as a health food.

So, what’s the truth about coconut oil?

It’s true that coconut oil is comprised solely of fat, but the fat in coconut oil is not the same as the fat found in meat products.

The fat in coconut oil is mostly medium-chain fatty acids or medium-chain triglycerides, which are easier for the body to burn off and more difficult for the body to change to stored fat. (22), (23), (24), (25)

When it comes to weight loss, coconut oil may be a better option than olive oil. People consuming oils with medium-chain triglycerides, like those found in coconut oil, lost more weight than those who consumed olive oil, which contains long-chain triglycerides. (26), (27)

Still other studies showed that even when consuming coconut oil did not result in weight loss, it did result in a smaller waist size when participants included about 2 tablespoons of coconut per day in their diets.

This suggests that coconut oil is effective in reducing belly fat, which can be dangerous because it tends to build up around organs and carries several health risks. (28), (29), (30)

What You Should Know:

The medium-chain triglycerides found in coconut oil are easier for your body to burn and harder for it to store, so adding coconut oil to your diet could help you lose weight and reduce dangerous belly fat.

#4 Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been touted as a miracle cure for a lot of things, but can it help you lose weight?

Studies suggest that it can – though it’s easy to find experts who say apple cider doesn’t work.

Recent studies show that drinking one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with 8 ounces of water before you eat helps your body to block the digestion of starches, which can lead to weight loss. (31), (32), (33)

Apple cider vinegar can help you to feel full, so you’ll eat less. In one study, participants were given either a plain piece of white bread or a piece of white bread with vinegar. Those who ate the bread and vinegar reported feeling fuller longer. (34)

Another study showed that consuming between one and two tablespoons of vinegar daily led to a weight reduction of up to 3.7 pounds in a 12-week period. (35)

What You Should Know:

Including one or two tablespoons of apple cider per day in your diet could help you to lose weight by preventing your body from digesting starches and increasing feelings of fullness, but you may want to watch out for apple cider vinegar side effects.

#3 Coffee

Drinking coffee has been shown to have lots of health benefits like decreasing the risk of Alzheimer’s, lots of healthy anti-oxidants, and lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes. (36), (37), (38)

New studies are showing that weight loss can be added to that list of benefits.

The caffeine in coffee has been proven to induce thermogenesis, the process that your body uses to convert food into energy. Drink that cup of Joe in morning, your body will burn more calories for the rest of the day. This is also true of some of the supplements from Xyngular. (39), (40)

One study showed that when people drink caffeinated coffee with a meal, their metabolism increases and fat breaks down faster. (41)

Another study indicated that a diet that includes between four and six cups of coffee per day can help you burn up to 150 extra calories each day. (42)

What You Should Know:

The caffeine in coffee can help you burn extra calories and lose weight along with its many other health benefits, so starting your day with a black cup of joe gets you off to a healthy start.

#2 Eggs

For a long time, eggs were considered unhealthy because they contain a lot of cholesterol, but that’s no longer accepted as fact.

Scientific studies have proven that eggs contain less cholesterol than previously thought and have very little effect on the cholesterol levels in blood. (43), (44)

Eggs are a great choice for a snack or as part of a meal because they are high in protein. High protein foods are satisfying and keep you feeling full longer so you eat less. (45), (46)

Participants in one study who ate eggs for breakfast rather than bagels reported feeling fuller and ate fewer calories of the subsequent 36 hour period. (47)

Still another study showed that people who ate eggs for breakfast lost 65% more weight than people who ate bagels for breakfast, regardless of the fact that both breakfasts contained the same amount of calories. (48)

Remember that satiety index mentioned earlier? Eggs received a score of 150 while Muesli breakfast cereal scored only 100, which indicates a breakfast of eggs will fill you up better than a bowl of cereal. (49) (PDF)

What You Should Know:

Eggs are far less dangerous to your health than previously thought. In fact, eggs can be an important part of your weight loss plan since they are a high protein food that fill you up.

#1 Spicy Peppers

Spicy peppers, such as chili peppers, are a powerful addition to a diet aimed at losing weight because they contain capsaicin.

Capsaicin has been proven to increase metabolism while also reducing appetite. (50), (51), (52), (53), (54)

One study showed that people who ate a high protein meal followed by a pill containing a high dose of DCT (a version of capsaicin) burned twice as many calories for several hours afterward.

As an added benefit, research into the benefits of capsaicin shows that it may also be helpful in fighting cancer. Studies show that capsaicin in high doses is capable of killing cancer cells without harming healthy cells. (55)

What You Should Know:

Adding hot peppers to your diet can help you burn more calories and reduce your appetite, and may also help fight cancer.

Takeaway on Fat Burning Foods

The bottom line benefit to all of these foods and drinks is that you get to add them to your diet instead of taking something away!

When you add some of these items to your diet, you just might lose weight without even having to think about it.
