Overview

What is AXIO?

AXIO is a supplement from LifeVantage that claims to boost energy without the crash that comes with too much sugar or caffeine. Designed and produced with science-based research, AXIO is a dissolvable powder that claims to contain all-natural ingredients.

The supplement comes in both regular and decaf. AXIO Regular comes in four flavors, Green Grape, Dragon Fruit, Sour Cherry, Strawberry Splash, while AXIO Decaf comes in two, Red Raspberry and Purple Grape – and here is what some of the research has to say about these product’s ingredients:

Directions

AXIO Directions

To prepare AXIO, simply mix one packet of the dissolvable powder with 12-16 ounces of cold water. Seal the container and shake or stir vigorously for at least 30 seconds until the powder is fully dissolved. Adjust the water quantity based on your preference — less for a stronger taste and more for a milder flavor.

According to information from LifeVantage, the manufacturer of AXIO, this energy-boosting drink can be consumed at any time of the day, providing a reliable pick-me-up when needed.

Notably, the product description lacks specific recommendations on daily servings or a maximum safe dosage. However, a side note on AXIO’s information page suggests that achieving the intended effects may require more than one packet. It’s crucial to be aware that each packet contains approximately 100mg of caffeine, equivalent to a standard cup of coffee. Keep in mind that the FDA recommends a daily caffeine intake of no more than 400mg.

Ingredients

AXIO Ingredients

AXIO ingredients include:

  • B Vitamins (B3, B6, and B12)
  • Magnesium
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Pine Bark Extract
  • L-Theanine
  • Quercetin Dihydrate
  • DMAE Bitartrate

All of these ingredients are supposed to boost your energy without the unwanted side effects.

Benefits

AXIO Benefits

Many of the potential AXIO benefits are related to its ingredients.

Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is a nutrient they claim boosts brain functionality.

Niacin can be helpful for those with cholesterol issues and can be found in a variety of standard foods.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is a vitamin that occurs naturally in food, says NIH-ODS. Researchers claim B6 is essential to the body’s ability to produce neurotransmitters, the National Institutes of Health reports.

It is speculated that the vitamin may improve cognitive function, mood, and memory, according to a study review published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a powerhouse vitamin capable of creating and protecting DNA and red blood cells, states the Central European Journal of Immunology.

Vitamin B12 is not naturally produced in the human body and is incapable of being stored for a prolonged period.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a crucial element of the human body.

It regulates blood pressure, promotes skeletal strength, and improves heart health, according to the journal Nutrients.

Caffeine

Caffeine Anhydrous is a stimulant that increases alertness.

Apparently, it does this by tricking your brain into stopping the production of adenosine, the chemical that causes you to feel tired, Life Sciences reports.

AXIO Proprietary Blend

AXIO contains a proprietary blend of DMAE, green tea extract, New Zealand pine bark, l-theanine, and quercetin.

DMAE

Per the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, DMAE is a molecule widely known as an anti-aging chemical.

It is suspected DMAE fights the cognitive impairment that comes with age by assisting in producing neurotransmitters, PubChem reports.

Green Tea Extract

Green Tea Extract comes from the Camellia sinensis plant and is known widely as a favorite superfood in healthy lifestyle circles. Evidence indicates it is useful in correcting blood pressure and treating high cholesterol.

It is a natural source of caffeine, so some use it to improve mental alertness and cognitive function.

New Zealand Pine Bark

New Zealand Pine Bark from the plant Pinus Radiata, is a traditional medicine that has been used in the rural parts of New Zealand for hundreds of years.

Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory effects and assists with cognitive function.

L-Theanine

Suntheanine, or l-theanine, is an amino acid said to encourage relaxation and concentration.

Clinical trials have indicated its ability to lower stress and tension in consumers.

Quercetin

Quercetin is a flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. It is most effective against prostate inflammation and pain.

It can also suppress the enzyme that releases cortisol—lovingly known as the “fight or flight” hormone—protecting the brain from high-stress levels, partly based on research in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology.

AXIO Nutritional Information

AXIO has no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, sugars, GMOs, or gluten. It is also vegan. All ingredients used in AXIO have been approved by the Banned Substances Control Group.

The caffeine amounts found in AXIO serving is 100mg, which is less caffeine per ounce than a cup of coffee.

AXIO’s other ingredients include maltodextrin, natural flavors, citric acid, stevia extract, natural colors, gum acacia, guar gum, xanthan gum, malic acid, and ascorbic acid. Most of these ingredients appear to be added to enhance AXIO’s taste and appearance instead of contributing to its ability to improve cognitive function.

AXIO and Nrf2

AXIO’s product description is a little less clear on its relationship with Nrf2, as it claims to possess “Nrf2 ingredients.” Nrf2 is a powerful protein that lies dormant within our body’s cells until released by an Nrf2 activator.

Once activated, Nrf2 can fight against our bodies’ natural destruction by producing illness-fighting enzymes such as Glutathione, Catalase, and Superoxide Dismutase.

These enzymes play a large role in protecting our body from illness and cell mutation as we get older. LifeVantage sells other products that claim to be Nrf2 activators.

Warnings

AXIO Product Warnings

LifeVantage does not express any concern about risks or side effects associated with their product.

However, there is a definite warning under their product’s label info that claims AXIO is not recommended for minors, pregnant or nursing mothers, or those with an intolerance or insensitivity to caffeine.

They also state that the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) recommended intake of caffeine should not exceed 400mg per day.

LifeVantage’s website states that to receive “all the benefits” of the product, the consumer may need to drink more than one serving of AXIO a day.

Paying mind to the FDA’s caffeine intake recommendation, a consumer should probably take no more than three servings of AXIO per day. LifeVantage does not explicitly state this or provide any other maximum safe dose on its product or website.

Does It Work?

Does AXIO Work?

LifeVantage is confident they have science on their side. AXIO’s product page is full of words like “smart blend of ingredients” and “Nrf2 engineered energy,” but they don’t actually explain the science behind their claims.

Although the ingredients found in AXIO can be found in various other supplements, most scholarly sources conclude that more research is needed. Most of the “science” behind AXIO is based on speculation and correlations that may or may not indicate cause and effect.

The LifeVantage website explicitly states that the FDA has evaluated none of the claims made about AXIO’s benefits. All the health benefits of AXIO are “based on historical/documented use” of the product.

The only claim about the product that is supported by scientific research is the effects of caffeine. Caffeine increases alertness and can temporarily improve focus. Nothing can be said about this in regards to AXIO Decaf, as it supposedly contains no caffeine.

Many of the ingredients, such as Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Magnesium, and DMAE, are thought to improve cognitive function, help overall mental health and mood.

However, evidence to definitively support or deny the claims made by LifeVantage about their product isn’t readily found.

Potential Side Effects of AXIO

LifeVantage does not explicitly warn its consumers about any adverse or unintended side effects on AXIO’s product page. Part of AXIO’s appeal seems to be that, unlike its competitors, it has no unwanted side effects.

Combined with the newness of the product and the lack of reviews, it is difficult to confirm or deny if anyone has experienced side effects resulting from taking AXIO.

However, there are a few things about AXIO’s ingredients worth mentioning for the conscientious consumer.

AXIO contains 24mg of vitamin B3, which is 150% of the suggested daily value. Deficiencies in niacin are extremely rare, and unlike other vitamins, the possibility of consuming too much niacin is a real concern.

Too much Niacin can cause stomach irritation, nausea, liver damage, impaired blood sugar control, blurred vision, and gout. Nutritionists recommend consulting your doctor before taking Niacin as a supplement.

Side effects of DMAE may include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Confusion
  • Headaches
  • Weight Loss
  • Trouble sleeping

What Users Are Saying

What Users Are Saying

Great product for brain function. I have ordered directly from the company in the past. Same product.”

“I have used Axio for years but didn’t want to continue going through a private representative. I ordered off Amazon for convenience. However, my first order was strawberry splash (SS) & green grape (GG). My favorite is GG. My husband prefers SS. I received 2 SS. So ordered a GG again, & I received is SS. This is frustrating and disappointing. So…I ordered GG again, & received SS. It’s like my info is stored and they just send me the fist thing I ordered and not looking at what I am ordering. This time I’m sending it back.”

“I love Axio decaf grape. It’s expensive, but the ingredients are high quality. The taste is fantastic too.”

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line on AXIO

So, can AXIO increase your energy like no other? The jury is still out. However, we have four concerns about this product:

  1. LifeVantage is vague and nonspecific about dosing information.
  2. Multi-leveling marketing companies can be a hassle to deal with as an individual consumer.
  3. It’s such a new product, and there are few testimonials we trust available right now.
  4. There is little scientific evidence to support the claims made by LifeVantage.

  • Allergic reaction

I am in my 50s and for the first time in my life I had an allergic reaction. A friend of mine does these drink mixes and loves it so she suggested it to me. I tried the drink mix and within five minutes my entire body got red hives and my throat started to close up. I’m gonna assume it’s the tree extract that’s in it. I am allergic to most trees outside but I’ve never had this type of reaction. I know your product is good but I learned a huge lesson. Always look at the ingredients before you drink anything.

I tried this product and I must warn anyone who is taking a statin for cholesterol that I had a very violent cross reaction between my cholesterol medication and axio. It drew out and magnified all of the side effects of the statin medication. Just use caution if using a statin.

I have an Axio everyday and we started the product a few years back on a trip to Disney. We cut out the sugary sodas and replaced with Axio. We all felt better and our energy levels stayed up rather then crashing on sugary drinks. I believe it helps me focus and helps me stay healthy!

I have been taking Axio for the past couple of weeks. In my experience, Axio does help me focus longer, retain information more easily and gives me a smooth flow of energy as a ‘pick-me-up’. I have taken Axio on and off for the past couple of years and have always had a good effect.
