Burn 60 Review - 6 Things You Need to Know

In the weeks that led up to this review, I figured out whether Burn 60 actually works. We checked out the details, customer service and clinical research. We looked high and low for class experiences. Then, we condensed it all to give you the info you need.

What is Burn 60?

First off, Burn 60 is a group of exercise classes in California. There are three to choose from – Signature 60, Extreme Burn 45 and Express Burn 45. We assume the number is how long the class lasts. As is the case with all work outs, the more you move, when paired with a healthy diet, the more weight you will lose.

Janet Crown is the founder of Burn 60. She lives in Los Angeles, California. It looks like there are only two locations – West Hollywood and Brentwood. You can purchase classes online or in person. We like that the program supports exercise and we believe healthy eating is also a focus, but read on…

Cost – “Too High or Just Fine?”

The first issue we found that needed attention with Burn 60 deals with the cost. You can expect to pay about $39 for a single class. There’s also the monthly option for $189 or a larger package of 60 for $660.

“We found no proof that Burn 60 is any more effective than other work out programs,” said our Research Editor. “You can even buy the latest, most popular home exercise DVD for a fraction of the cost.”

The gym method of exercise may not be the best choice. According to NPR.org, “If you are not going to the gym, you are actually the gym’s best customer.” The entire business is centered on the idea that you won’t stick with it.

Lack of Review – “Who Actually Trains?”

We couldn’t find a single review for Burn 60. There are tons for the supplement of the same name from GNC, but not the work outs.

“We are always concerned about a gym trying to convince the visitor to purchase classes when there are no testimonials to go on,” offers our Research Editor.

After years of research, we think it takes a small thing, like no available reviews, to cut down the number of people who try a program. If Burn 60 is expensive and there are no testimonials, that will affect purchases.

The Science – “Any Real Clinical Proof?”

You won’t find any research that says Burn 60 is better than other forms of exercise or interval training. There are a vast number of options on the market today that offer the same type of training for, literally, less than 10% of the cost of these classes.

What Users Are Saying

"”I am pleased with the results having lost 3 pounds in about a week, which i find great since i have difficulty losing the extra weight i gained over the summer in the sweltering south U.S.”"

"”This did provide more energy but also made me VERY nauseous to the point that I had to stop taking it.”"

"”Caused intense stomach burning. Akin to the feeling of an ulcer developing.”"

The Bottom Line – Does Burn 60 Work?

Did we just sign up for classes? Let’s see, we like the idea of exercise for weight-loss, as does every expert, but we have reservations about this one in particular. Burn 60 is not some special, amazing work out program that’s better than other forms of interval training. What is unique is the price you’re expected to pay for the chance to improve physical fitness when there are so many options that are free.

If you want to lose weight with exercise, we think that’s a great choice. You can maximize your efforts by adding a clinically tested supplement with strong customer support.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is one called Dietspotlight Burn. The formula is comprised of just four ingredients and all have been tested and shown to spark metabolism. The company encourages exercise and healthy eating, but it doesn’t say you have to spend $189 a month to lose weight.

Plus, Dietspotlight Burn’s makers offer a special trial offer because they are so confident in the formula.

Previous Burn 60 Review (Updated September 23, 2014):

What You Should Know

GNC's Burn 60 is marketed as a thermogenic formula that helps to raise metabolism, burn calories and boost energy levels. For best results, Burn 60 should be used with the healthy diet and exercise program included a part of the product package. Burn 60's ingredients increase post-workout calorie burning by up to 60 percent, making your exercise more efficient, according to the manufacturer.

Guarana Seed Extract, Black Tea Leaves Extract, Grape Skin and Seed Extract, Ginger Root Extract, Dill Weed Extract, Cellulose, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Cinnamon bark extract, FD&C Yellow 6 Lake, Dextrose, Titanium Dioxide and FD&C Red #40 Lake.

Product Features

Burn 60 is one of the weight loss products sold by GNC, a nationwide retail vitamin and supplement chain.  The marketing materials for Burn 60 always refer to the product leading to "additional calorie burning" during and after workouts, so it is safe to assume that it has little effect as a weight loss product without the inclusion of some type of exercise. Burn 60 is in the Thermogenic category on the GNC website, which means that it is supposed to work by increasing metabolism and causing the body to burn fat. Thermogenic products have been shown to be effective in weight loss. However, with the exception of mega doses of the  ingredient guarana seed extract, combined with the caffeine in black tea, there don't seem to be any ingredients which would boost the metabolism, and it is questionable as to how safe using such a large dose of stimulants might be. In online reviews some users reported sweating more during and after exercise, so any weight loss achieved could be due to water weight lost from so much perspiration. Besides these stimulants, Burn 60 also contains several products thought to have an effect in calming the stomach and warding off headaches-two conditions that can occur with the ingestion of too much caffeine. Burn 60 is available on the GNC website for $29.99 (60 tablets) plus shipping and handling.

  • Burn 60 is made by a well known supplement manufacturer and distributor.
  • Burn 60 comes with a healthy diet guide and exercise program.

  • The main ingredient in Burn 60 is a strong stimulant.
  • There are very mixed customer reviews for Burn 60 on the Internet.
  • Burn 60 does not offer sample trials, and no money back guarantee is in evidence on the official website.

Burn 60 is one of many products that claim to increase calorie burning potential.  The ingredient that promotes this is a powerful stimulant.  While this approach could in fact work, it is probably not the safest way to go about losing weight. Many people experience headaches, nausea and tremors from ingesting too much caffeine, and in some case it can cause serious reactions.  Many online reviewers confirmed that they experienced some of these serious symptoms.  There are thermogenic products on the market, without the large doses of caffeine, which have research to back up their safety and effectiveness. Dieters should seek out weight loss supplements with safer ingredients and clinical research to support their manufacturers' claims.
