We took the time to create a comprehensive review, focusing closely on the side effects, scientific studies, ingredients, and customer service quality. We additionally looked at various user comments from all over the internet. Finally, we summarized all of the data we collected to give you the facts.

What is Cordyceps?

Firstly, Cordyceps mushroom is a fungus that is found on specific caterpillars located in the mountainous regions of China. This is difficult to find in large enough quantities to market, but it is reproducible in laboratory settings. It has been used to treat upper respiratory ailments, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, increased energy, and a variety of other health issues. Side Effects – “An Issue?”

Our first concern is with Cordyceps side effects. Mild ones have been reported, but so have some that are more concerning. According to our Research Editor, “It is important that any noted reactions associated with a nutritional supplement be relatively harmless. There are too many people who begin taking all natural products thinking they will be completely safe and this is simply not always true.”

Lack of Proven Cordyceps Benefits – “Not Specific Enough”

Another concern we have is that the research done has not been targeted specifically at the weight-loss functions of the fungus.

One consumer said, “I contacted the manufacturer of the Cordyceps supplement I use to find out where their research came from but no one could tell me.”

Another explained, “I looked into the research before I made a purchase but I couldn’t find anything so I’m waiting to talk to a TCM practitioner before I make a decision.”

Others were more understanding about the lack of western research. One claimed, “My family is from China and we have been using Cordyceps for generations, it’s very good.”

Another said, “I have used this off and on my whole life for a variety of issues. It works if you know what you’re doing.”

According to our research, if a product has significant side effects or if the scientific research doesn’t support the claims the chance of long-term results is minimal. If Cordyceps just isn’t effective for weight-loss, the ingredient may not be the best choice.

The Science – “Need More Clinical Support?”

Cordyceps can also be used for medicinal purposes such as for aches and pains, treating infections, and colds, and for other respiratory ailments such as asthma and bronchial issues.
