Diet products either work or they don’t. Period. Let’s find out which one Dexyfen is. After taking an in-depth look at side effects, ingredients, clinical research, and customer service. Then, we summarized and condensed everything to give you the bottom line.

Dexyfen Readers: Click here to find out why we're giving away samples of our product, Leptigen.

What is Dexyfen?

To begin with, Dexyfen is an appetite suppressant and metabolic stimulator so you eat less while burning more fat. Ingredients include caffeine, yohimbe bark, oryza sativa seed, menthe haplocalyx leaf, and zanthoxylym piperitum fruit. You are only to take one capsule daily, according to the product label.

Dexyfen is produced and marketed by Image Sports. You can find it for sale as “Dexy” on the official website, but the original is also available through some third-party retailers. We like that it uses caffeine to boost energy and metabolism, but read on…

Side Effects – “Be Careful!”

Our first concern is multiple reports of Dexyfen side effects. “Supplements high in stimulants can cause side effects for some users. This is especially the case for people who are sensitive to that type of ingredient,” said our Research Editor.

”I am healthy, but after taking this I felt…jittery [and] could not sit still,” said claimed one user.

”I had to stop taking this after two weeks because of the side effects,” stated another.

Some customers didn’t experience any side effects

“I lost 10 pounds in no time without side effects,” said one pleased dieter.

“This stuff gives me the energy I get through the day, and I don’t feel jittery,” said yet another.

Availability – “Where Did It Go?”

Image Sports made the product, but has since changed the name to Dexy. It is likely the old formula has been pulled from the market making it difficult to find.

One unhappy dieter exclaimed, ”I loved this stuff and can’t find it at GNC anymore.”

Others don’t mind that it’s not available anymore.

“I loved this stuff, but I am sure GNC replaced it with something just as good, if not better,” noted an optimistic customer.

Over the years, we’ve learned that all it takes is one small thing to stop customers from getting long-term success. If Dexyfen causes side effects and is hard to find, this can be an issue for dieters.

The Science – “Some Ingredients Are Proven”

Dexyfen contains many ingredients, but caffeine is shown to boost the metabolism. You can get it as a standalone ingredient in pill form, or naturally in coffee and tea at a fraction of the cost. There’s not a lot to say about the rest of the formula.

At DietSpotlight, we want to see science before we can suggest any product to our readers. We want to see safety, effectiveness, and good value before we provide a recommendation.

The Bottom Line – Does Dexyfen Work?

Should I race out for a bottle of Dexyfen? If you mange to find it, you may want to take several factors into consideration. Image Sports no longer sells it, so any product may be old or out of date. We also have reservations because of reports of side effects.

If you want to shed those extra pounds, why not try weight-loss supplement made with clinically tested ingredients known to help boost the metabolism. For even better results, combine it with a nutritionally balanced diet and regular exercise program.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is Leptigen. Made with a blend of four key ingredients all shown in clinical testing to help boost metabolism, fight appetite and increase energy, this may be what helps you reach your weight-loss goals. A deep look into customer feedback revealed no negative mentions of the product. But, we did find a number of reports of great results.

Plus, right now, everyone can get in on a Special Trial Offer, available directly from the manufacturer. This is the kind of thing we love to see.

Previous Dexyfen Review (Updated May 4, 2015):

What You Should Know

Dexyfen is a supplement produced and marketed by GNC, or General Nutrition Company. It is an appetite suppressant and metabolic stimulator so you will also burn more fat. If you are looking for a fat burner and appetite suppressant combination supplement to help you reach your weight loss goals, read this review to learn more about the product and how it works.

List of Ingredients

Dexyfen contains the following ingredients:
  • Caffeine (as caffeine anhydrous)
  • Pausinystalia yohimbe (bark)
  • Oryza sativa (seed)
  • Mentha haplocalyx (leaf)
  • Zanthoxylum piperitum (fruit)

Product Features

Dexyfen contains several different ingredients, but they are all natural. Caffeine anhydrous is a form of caffeine that has been dehydrated for a stronger concentration. Yohimbe bark is used as a sexual enhancer, but it is also a stimulant that can help increase the metabolism. Oryza sativa is a type of rice, rich in antioxidants that can help combat against disease, as well as healthy fatty acids that can help transport fat from the body. Mentha haplocalyx leaf is a member of the mint family with several medicinal uses, but in the case of this formula, it is used for its diuretic properties, to help flush excess water from the body. Zanthoxylum piperitum is a natural herb, traditionally used to treat stomach pain, but in the case of this supplement, is designed to help promote healthy digestion.

Advantages

  • Dexyfen is an all natural formula.
  • This product has several positive reviews from customers.

Disadvantages

  • Dexyfen contains more than one stimulant, so those who are sensitive may want to avoid taking the product within several hours of bedtime. It can disrupt sleep cycles, cause headaches, jitters, and irritability.
  • Diuretics pull water from the body, which may lead to dehydration. Water weight loss is temporary and though it will produce results on the scale, will not be like fat loss.
  • This product is not recommended to use for more than 8 consecutive weeks without a break in between.
  • There are no free trials of this supplement.
  • This supplement is $57 for a monthly supply, which makes it expensive for a lot of people.

Conclusion

Dexyfen claims to be an appetite suppressant, but we do not see anything in the formula that acts an appetite suppressant. There are several different stimulants in the formula that will help with burning fat. However, without the balanced diet and regular exercise program, the supplement will not do much work. No supplement will do all the work for you. It is plausible you will see weight loss results with this product, but after a full 8 week cycle, you may not be able to keep the weight off while you are on your off cycle.

I tried this product today for the first time. My friend, Gloria, used to work at GNC and she had given me the bottle she had because she cant take them. I hadn’t eaten anything and she said it would help in my weight loss that I have been trying for months. It would also give me a lot of energy. She brought them to my store and said she would stop back on her way home. Well, I opened the bottle and they were purple, my favorite color, so I thought these are going to work for me. I have tried numerous kinds of diets, nothing seems to work. I have gained 40 lbs. and HATE it!!! It was about 9:00 am., by 9:10 I felt like I wanted to kill her!!!! I started to get really hot and my arms were itchy, my heart was beating really fast, my stomach was upset, I didn’t know what to think. So, I thought I would try eating something, a small bag of chips, now I felt like I could throw up, but I didn’t. I tried to relax and control my breathing, my arms were still itchy and red but if I didn’t think about it, didn’t seem to bother me as much. Needless to say, all my shelves were fully stocked and floors clean. It was about 11:30 and here comes my friend back. I said what the —- did you give me???? She said it was all normal to experience what I did and then we looked it up on google. Everyone is different, but I recommend each person to know the side effects before you start taking it. I don’t know if it will help me lose the weight I want to yet or not, but I am going to try it. I will update my review in 2 weeks or so to let everybody know. This was very helpful to read other peoples reaction to taking Dexyfen. Thank-you!

Ernest

Will it show up on a drug test?

Will

How is his recovery going? i believe im going through the same thing.

Can you take the diet pill after you eat?

Your Name

I eat before I take it and it works well for me. I’ve found that if I take it on an empty stomach I sometimes get some stomach pain.

Me

After reading all of the reviews I’d decided to perform a “guinea pig” test on myself. This is what I found:

If you’re experiencing swelling hands, this is more than likely because your blood is circulating more than usual. I get this sensation every time I start to run again after months of no exercise. After a few days of exercise, that sensation always goes away.

From taking this pill and working out and taking this pill and doing nothing, what I saw was you are a LOT more amped and prone to the side effects than if you immediately go to the gym, go for a walk or run and stay active for the next few hours. Going to work isn’t enough.
I don’t drink coffee nor do I take stimulants of any kind on a regular basis, so you can expect I would be sensitive to the side effects. I actually felt nothing more than a bit more energy than usual and a LOT of sweating. After running/walking over 3 miles, I sat in my back yard and did some light yoga. It felt like I was in the middle of a Bikram class, I was sweating so much. But it wasn’t jittery at all. It took me a while to cool down before I could take a shower, but the sensation wasn’t awful.
I took the pill, as directed, on an empty stomach, drank plenty of water and then took the D.I.E.T. pill in the afternoon, also on an empty stomach.

The idea is to be physically active after taking these pills. No pill will make you lose weight without some sort of activity. And again, it’s got to be activity. Not sitting behind a desk or simply meandering about. You need to get your circulation going more so the pill will do it’s job. Even after I took the pills without working out I felt gross. Once I worked out I felt amazing.

As with any diet pills, you must eat right and work out. Even if a brisk walk. But sitting down watching tv isn’t the way to do it. And remember, swelling hands are normal, even when NOT taking anything. It happens all the time when you begin a regime of any kind. Trust me, once your body is used to the “more than normal” activity, the swelling will subside and you will feel it no more. The burning sensation won’t occur if you’re working out because you’re already hot and sweaty from the work out that you won’t feel the “burning”.

Good luck to everyone and I hope you all attain your personal weight goals.

Felicia

Thank you for this important review and most of all, the humour you found…

Loreta

Im thinking of trying out but I’m diabetic, is it safe to this?

connie

I started taking this May 14th and so far so good. I used to take oxi elite pro and that was amazing for me but they have taken it off the market. I went to GNC and the woman told me this was comparable she did say to eat a little something 45 min before u take the two pills in the am because it could upset your stomach. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but I figured I wont know until I try it for myself. I did experience the warm sensation but I was used to that from oxy elite pro. I also had really good energy throughout the day no jitters or shakes or rashes nothing negative at all. I took the afternoon pill and again gave me energy and usually that is the time I start getting a little tired. I am using this to get rid of the last 10 lbs i have lost 65 lbs over the past year thru diet and excersise I eat healthy and workout 5 to 6 times a week I just hit a plateau and wanted to try this to see if it would help me get over this plateau. I think everyone handles medications and supplements differently I love it so far and will continue to take it for the recommended 8 weeks.

Maggie

Do you think it would be ok to take this supplement every other day?

Beto

I just started Dexy last month and so far so good. I tried another similar thermo-gen last year so I wasn’t concerned with the ‘rush’ when taking it. Dexy is a little less tame than the other brand, in my opinion, but everyone’s different. The energy is Amazing but I do run or walk a mile at least twice a week. Started Dec. 30 and im down 20 pounds after weighing myself today. (Feb. 17) I eat super light throughout the day(oatmeal, salads, granola bars)cause im not that hungry either. I like this formula, don’t add or takeaway from it.

Noor

what about mentally and psychologically, how do you feel?

Thank you

Leann

I’ve drank coffee since I was 5 so it doesn’t really effect me anymore so I didn’t feel any crazy jitters or horrible crashes. What did scare the living hell out of me was the burning sensation and the redness because I thought I was having a severe allergic reaction but I went running anyways and felt great afterwards. It did curve my appetite but I forced myself to eat a little because anorexia already slowed down my metabolism way too much and I don’t want to just gain weight after I stop taking it and let my metabolism slow down. So far so good though. Even though I accidentally took 2 of the D.I.E.T pills at the same time on accident :/! I’m anxious to see weight loss!

Annastasia

How were your results?

Lynzie

I’m an athletic 19 year old, using Dexfen for the first time. As instructed, i took the thermogenic on an empty stomach, went for a run (due to that boost of energy) , and ate a small meal afterwards.. Only take the thermogenic BEFORE 2pm and I also have the DIET combo, which i take after eating a meal -earliest to take this pill is 6pm (instructed by GNC employee). I’m not used to taking caffeine or having high amounts of energy, so when i felt the energy come in, I got a bit nervous, and started to shake. I also felt a slight headache. Just stay calm and control your breathing. Last effect it had on me was a little burning sensation i felt in my chest- while running. Drink plenty of water and DON’T freak out when you start to feel side effects. When i started to freak out, i realized i started to get nauseous and when i calmed down, it went away. Sometimes it’s all in your head. Overall, I had a pretty good first time experience. Energy went away after 2-3 hours. I didn’t feel like crashing. Just be smart about using the pill, and use it right. DO RESEARCH. (i know i did, and i asked lots of questions at GNC)

The first day I used dexyfen my face turned really red and felt hot. I don’t get those anymore after taking it on an empty stomach with 24oz of water and working out 20 min after taking. I used to take oxyelite, so I was excited to find this and it is working just us good.
I hope this will help others experiencing the red rash/ burning sensation.

advntrskr68

I took this for the first time today. I found out OxyElite Pro was banned again and the GNC rep recommended these. I bought first and then read about it. I am a little concerned because I have a pre-existing seizure problem (not bad)but still something to consider. I did get some gnarly burning and turned red but it only lasted about 30 minutes. I knew it was the niacin so I wasn’t too alarmed. I feel pretty good, no upset stomach or anything. I’m used to caffeine so I don’t anticipate headaches. My lips are still a little tingly and it’s been about 2 hrs since I took it. I’m sure it will pass. I’ll post in about another week with a better update.

Ruby

Today was my first day of taking Dexyfen and I have to say, I’ve had a pretty decent experience whilst on this pill. I took the stimulant AND the D.I.E.T. pill this morning, and waited 30 minutes to make a protein shake. I wasn’t nauseous, but was extremely energized and literally could NOT stand still. Which was good, because over the past few weeks I’ve been quite tired due to laziness (oopsies) I didn’t have a crazy, scary reaction to the niacin in the product, as many of you might’ve. And that was my biggest fear, after reading lots of negative reviews particularly aimed at the niacin in the pill. I will say that if I did have a random itch somewhere, and I’d scratch it; wherever I scratched burned a little bit. But nothing turned hivey, swollen, or red on my body. The trick on these pills, as well as any other diet pill, is to DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Stay so hydrated that you’re going pee at least 10 times a day. Or maybe less. Maybe even more. Idk. Drink, drink, drink. Water not only helps while on a diet in a general; but it’s also crucial for your kidneys, since they are workin’ overtime while on these pills. Other than that, good luck all & remember to STAY HYDRATED.

Faith

I have taken a few different types of diet pills, fat burners, etc… over the past few years and have never had anything happen as bad as what Dexyfen did. This is by far the worst. I took 1 pill as directed and was getting ready to go for a run, but within 30 minutes of taking it I had to call the paramedics because I felt like I was going to pass out. I was as red as a tomato and my skin was so swollen that I could barely move my face, arms, and hands. It took over 6 hours for me to feel well enough to get up and move around. This was a very scary experience.

Nessa

My first time taking dexyfen made me feel like most of you. But after a while I felt a little better. The only thing I really hate about this product is the burning feeling. But I’ve only taken four pills and I’ve lost 10 pounds in two weeks, which is good because I have been trying to lose weight for a while now. I have not exercised, I just drink plenty of water. I do not eat much because it curves my appetite.

lydia

how soon can you see results??

ashlee

my first day taking it i took it on an empty stomach as recommended then went to the gym i did my workout by the time i go back home i was throwing up but i went ahead and drank my protein shake and that made me feel alittle bit better i recommend eating something before taking this if you are even the least bit sensitive to caffeine and it did make me red and itchy but it only lasted about ten mins im going to try it again tomorrow but this time eat first

Your Name

Its my first day taking it I can definitely tell its suppressed my appetite, but it did make my skin feel like it was burning and that scared me and made me want to stop taking it, but the feeling did eventually pass after about 20 minutes. I dont know about weight loss yet but I dont think I’m going to stop taking it yet.
