I paused before I hit the “publish” button on this one, because my conclusion was a bit of a shocker. Here at DietSpotlight, we wrote a comprehensive review on Hydroxycut Ultra, scrutinizing the ingredients, side effects, clinical research and level of customer-service quality. We additionally read various user comments and remarks from all over the web. Finally, we summed up all of the facts and feedback we found in order to give you the bottom line.
What is Hydroxycut Ultra?
To begin with, Hydroxycut Ultra is touted as an “ultra advanced powerful weight-loss formula” for men and women, similar to Hydroxycut. It’s supposed to provide clean energy, while helping you shed unwanted pounds of fat. The ingredients are cayenne pepper, guava fruit, riboflavin, avocado oil, mango pulp, coconut water, b vitamins, raspberry ketone, thiamin, robusta coffee extract (contains 100 milligrams of caffeine), vitamin d and red mango fruit (garcinia indica). You’ll take two capsules, 30-60 minutes prior to your two largest meals of the day. It should be used for at least 60 consecutive days. A healthy diet and exercise program is also encouraged.
Hydroxycut Ultra is brand new for 2016 and is made by Iovate Health Sciences. Some other similar products manufactured by this company are Hydroxycut Hardcore, Hydroxycut Gummies, Hydroxycut Black and Hydroxycut For Women. They can be purchased directly from the official website, as well as through Amazon. The company states that it’s a non-stimulant formula and it contains some natural ingredients, but read on…
Hydroxycut Ultra Ingredients – “How Do They Stand-Up?”
The first concern relates to Hydroxycut Ultra ingredients. “The supplement contains raspberry ketone and robusta coffee (green coffee extract),” said our Research Editor. “The science supporting the effectiveness is mixed.”
According to WebMD, “It is important to keep in mind that there is no reliable scientific evidence that raspberry ketone improves weight-loss when taken by people.”
On the other hand, “Some research has shown that raspberry ketone can impact adiponectin hormone levels in mice, which may assist with lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation,” reports PubMed.gov.
Moreover, a study from NCBI states that, “Green coffee extract may help reduce blood pressure and provide heart-healthy polyphenols.”
Lack of Research – “Let’s Take a Closer Look”
Another issue is to science supporting the formula in Hydroxycut Ultra. There is a study mentioned on the official website stating that robusta coffee can help you shed an average of 10.95 pounds in 60 days. Note that it must be taken in conjunction with a calorie-reduced diet and regular exercise. The diet and exercise alone could be causing the weight reduction. For instance, WebMD revealed that, “Green coffee extract may aid with weight-loss, but further study is needed.”
Hydroxycut Ultra also contains some caffeine. According to Mayo Clinic, “Caffeine may stimulate thermogenesis. It may reduce your desire to eat for a brief time as well.”
A European Journal of Nutrition study shows that “Caffeine intake is related to successful weight-loss maintenance.” Therefore it may help you keep the pounds off.
Our extensive research shows that when the research supporting a formula is mixed, the chances of long-term success is limited. There may be concerns if Hydroxycut Ultra ingredients are deemed ineffective, although there are studies showing some key components could work.
The Science – “Let’s Look at the Research”
There is research showing Hydroxycut Ultra capsules promote weight-loss. It is based on robusta coffee extract. The studies we found stated that individuals did lose weight , However, there is no elaboration on most of the ingredients found in this diet product. While we at DietSpotlight look for concrete evidence supporting a supplement, it must be noted that this brand offers solid science to back the claims.

Garcinia Indica Extract
Garcinia indica is the scientific name for the red mango fruit, also known as kokum. Although it was first discovered in India, it is native to the tropical regions of Asia and Africa. The fruit itself is cultivated for many uses, including as a spice used in Western cuisine and as a medicinal component in natural and herbal products, primarily due to the health benefits it is proposed to have.
What is it supposed to do?
Garcinia indica extract has been proposed to have a beneficial effect on indigestion, skin health, bloating, gas, inflammation, immunity, cognitive function, heart health, and even weight-loss. However, some of these benefits have not been backed by scientific research.
According to the Journal of Obesity, “…Garcinia extracts/HCA promote short-term weight-loss. The effects are small, and when rigorous RCTs are taken into consideration, it’s no longer statistically significant. It’s also questionable as it relates to clinical relevance.”
Robusta Coffee Extract
Robusta coffee extract is another name for green coffee bean extract, which is derived from unroasted coffee beans. This extraction method allows for the substance to have a higher concentration of chlorogenic acid, a chemical thought to have some health benefits.
What is it supposed to do?
Robusta coffee extract is consumed either by itself or in conjunction with other ingredients to treat high blood pressure, infections, memory, diabetes, and obesity.
Research published in Gastroenterology Research and Practice found that green coffee bean extract had a small effect on weight-loss and noted the need for more clinically relevant studies surrounding the effects of the extract on body weight.
Raspberry ketones became a popular weight-loss supplement ingredient after Dr. Oz claimed it to be a “miracle fat-burner” on his television show. The chemical is usually derived from red raspberries, hence the name. It can also be found in other plants, like pine trees, peaches, and apples.
What is it supposed to do?
Raspberry ketones are thought to alter the metabolism in ways that could affect those with obesity. Other potential health benefits are unknown.
According to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, there is insufficient evidence connecting raspberry ketones to weight-loss .
Coconut water is the liquid in the middle of a young and green coconut fruit plant. It’s an alternative to soda, sports drinks, and some fruit juices. The substance contains a healthy amount of potassium, sodium, and calories, which might allow for it to have some health benefits.
What is it supposed to do?
Coconut water is believed to be a better alternative to sports drinks for athletes wanting to rehydrate after rigorous exercise. Some sources claim the liquid can have a positive effect on various diseases as well.
The Journal of Medicinal Food study found that coconut water had a beneficial effect on the lipid metabolism in rats, which may lead to weight-loss. More research was conducted on the drink’s ability to rehydrate the body in comparison to popular sports drinks. The study, published in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology and Applied Human Science¸ concluded the liquid could be used to hydrate the body better than sports drinks.

Hydroxycut Ultra Side Effects:
In a world where weight-loss supplements have become increasingly popular, “natural” and “herbal” products are thought to be safer than most. There is always the potential for negative side effects with any formula. Although all the consumers of Hydroxycut Ultra have not experienced adverse issues, we’ll take a look at some considered mild.
Increased Heart Rate
An increased heart rate is also known medically as tachycardia, which is characterized by a rate of more than 100 beats/minute . Symptoms that may be associated with this condition include dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, lightheadedness, and more. Although an increased heart rate may be a sign of deteriorating health, it can also be normal, depending on the individual’s age and physical condition.
What causes an increased heart rate?
An increased heart rate can be associated with women, smokers, caffeine consumers, alcohol drinkers, and those in poor physical health. Sometimes, this symptom is the body’s reaction to medications, sickness, mental aversions, and intense exercise. Other times, more extreme health conditions, like insufficient oxygen in the blood, sarcoidosis, and cardiomyopathy, play a role in high heart rates.
Stomach irritation, or gastritis, is commonly associated with nausea, vomiting, indigestion, irregular bowel movements, abdominal pain, bloating, and more severe issues.
What causes stomach irritation?
If an individual is suffering from stomach irritation, it is commonly caused by bacteria in the stomach, bile reflux, or infections .
Restlessness is thought to be a symptom characterized by the inability to keep still or having the need to do something all the time. Restlessness is experienced by some individuals; it can be difficult to diagnose or even explain.
What causes restlessness?
Restlessness is considered a common symptom of anxiety disorders. However, when not connected to this mental issue, it can be caused by an overconsumption of caffeine.
Increased Blood Pressure
According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, increased blood pressure is a condition in which blood flows through the arteries at pressure rates that are considered unhealthy. These levels are found by measuring the systolic and diastolic pressure numbers.
What causes increased blood pressure?
High blood pressure can be caused by changes in salt balances in kidney fluids, blood vessel anatomy, the nervous system, and shifts in hormone levels. Genetics, environmental issues, obesity, medications, and unhealthy habits also play a role in increasing blood pressure levels. If this issue exists in the body for a prolonged period, other health issues might become more prevalent.
Hydroxycut Ultra side effects don’t always happen, but there have been reports of increased heart rate, stomach irritation, restlessness, and increased blood pressure, just to name a few. It’s always a safe practice to consult a physician before taking a supplement to avoid any unforeseen issues, especially if you are already taking medications, are under 18, are pregnant or nursing, or have a pre-existing medical condition.
Hydroxycut Ultra Scientific Abstracts:
Garcinia Indica Extract
Research has found Garcinia indica to contain a highly concentrated amount of hydroxycitric acid. A study testing the effects of all fruits within the Garcinia family and their proposed effects on obesity found the chemical within Garcinia indica to inhibit ATP citrate lyase. This enzyme allows for acetyl-CoA to increase serotonin levels and lead to a reduced appetite, which might cause weight-loss if paired with proper exercise and healthy eating. This research is substantiated by the findings of other conclusions drawn from comprehensive scientific studies.
Robusta Coffee Extract
Male mice were given a supplement containing green coffee bean extract, caffeine, and chlorogenic acid for 14 days. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase activity was recorded after the sixth day of consumption to determine the extract’s effects on the hepatic triglyceride metabolism. Its effects on fat absorption were also tested in mice loaded with olive oil. After the thirteenth day, hepatic triglyceride levels were recorded. Researchers concluded that the extract reduced body fat content and overall weight when 0.5 and 1% of the extract were supplemented to the mice, as well as hepatic triglyceride levels, serum triglyceride levels, and fat absorption, specifically in the mice loaded with olive oil.
Two studies were performed on mice to test the various mechanisms in which raspberry ketones acts within the body to perform anti-obesity actions. In the first test, three groups of mice were fed a high-fat diet supplemented with 0.5, 1, and 2% of raspberry ketones, respectively, for ten weeks. The second test was similar in that mice were fed only a high-fat diet for six weeks and then fed the same diet with a supplementation of 1% of raspberry ketones for five weeks. The conclusion of each study was combined to formulate an opinion on the weight-loss effects of the chemical. The compound was found to have a beneficial effect on reducing the effects a high-fat diet has on increasing body weight, lipid metabolism rates, and hepatic triacylglycerol content within the liver.
Another comprehensive review on the compound was conducted, concluding that research surrounding raspberry ketones do not formulate comprehensive evidence connecting the substance to the claims of significant weight-loss effects.
