You may be able to sub one out now and then, but beware of the sodium content. I lost 25 pounds in a month while on it 15 years ago. Hopefully it works for me now.

  Vast increase in my weight

I am a 54 year old grandmother. A year ago i was put on hormones for menopause which has caused a vast increase in my weight. Of course the doctor said that would not happen but it did. Is there anyone on this program in my situation? Is this program working for you?

I just read all the comments out of curiosity. FYI – I looked the best I have ever looked doing 6WBM 7 years ago. Then I got pregnant and forgot about it until recently revisiting. I have to say I am a fan as my diet history has not been great. I have a nasty habit of skipping meals. I love exercise but have found it difficult in the past to keep up the momentum as I overdo it and burn out. Also I dont get the results I want from exercise and calorie counting. After 6WBM I have realised over excising and skipping meals was making me overweight as I would then overeat as my muscles were starving and depleted. This plan is sensible and keeps me from over eating (I am eating all day) and not wasting time on too much or ineffective exercise. It is still calorie restrictive but you wouldn’t know it as you feel like you don’t stop eating. I now have the energy to exercise consistently. The advice about eating foods to replenish glycogen for your muscle after exercise in addition to the meals has stopped cravings for me. My muscles are happily shaping up once again in response to this program. I won’t forget it again this time. It’s too easy and so inexpensive. BTW I add salt and still lose weight and reshape on this diet. It’s either add salt or wake up with leg cramps at night.


My husband and I did the Michael Thurmond 6 week diet plan for only 3 weeks back in 2008. He lost 22 lbs and I lost 13 lbs. the thing I like most about the diet it helps you to make healthy choices in food for your body type. After we did 3 weeks we went on a cruise. Ate more sensibly and after 6 months was eating regular (shame on us) but we kept the weight off in spite of our bad eating habits again for about 18 months. It is a lot of meal planning but I would do this diet over any pill or other diets out there!

The Michael Thurmond diet works very well if you follow it. Exercise is also a critical piece however this Is the only “diet” that has ever worked for me. This is the one I come back to if my weight starts to creep up. You eat healthy and you are not hungry. I believe the science to be sound. It works if YOU WORK IT!!

Tell us your thoughts about Michael Thurmond.This was an amazing program, period end of story…I dropped an amazing 110 lbs, this is a very doable program. You eat every three hrs, and walk and do body defining resistence bands…I dont know where it was stated about “only 30 mins of exercise”, that isnt true, i walked every day ( first month was only 5-10 mins), and once the weight started coming off, i started to feel soo much better!! I’m 47 yrs old, and thanks to this wonderful system of “blue printing” and eating foods that increase my metabolism, i got my life back!!! No more bld pressure medications, antidepressants, sleeping pills!!!

   I lost 28 lbs this time around.

This does work and it’s not a fad diet because it teaches you to stay away from packaged foods and eat only fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbs and lean meat in smaller portions. I lost 28 lbs this time around. For the people complaining about the cost, I never paid more than the cost of the book – around $12. He has a 12 day makeover book and a 6 day makeover book. This is all you need. I will admit that it is difficult eating the in between meals at work but it’s necessary to stay full. If you are interested in eating healthy and losing weight this is a good plan for you.

tried it. I lost 28 pounds but it took longer than they promised. It was difficult in that I had to be eating so often at work. Then I hit a peak and just wouldn’t lose anymore. I tried their online assistance and that didn’t work. All in all it tought me how to prepare meals and live healthy I have gained back the weight however and plan to start back but this time I’m going to do a lot more excersize with the plan. I thought the plan was limited in terms of food selection but I guess that’s what a diet is.

The only warning I have about this diet is that for some people to eliminate fats as thorough as suggested can cause gallbladder failure. I went on one similar to this and when I went back to a less stringent diet, my gallbladder couldn’t handle the fat and failed.

I finally all, tried to reach aomeone at cusatomer service to ask questions, it took them 3 days to answer me. By the way, they left a message with no answers to my questions. Finally prior to the cancelation time frame I sent the entire package back, and requested a full refund, due to complication direction, no live real-time support. I just started the makeover today. I can already feel that I have more energy and am feeling healthier. The only problem I am having is that no matter what i use for spices I am literally choking the food down because of the lack of flavor. I have just started the six week body make over for the 2nd time So Far I have lost 8 lds. I started it in 2007 when my husband left for Iraq and lost 34 pound but since then have went back to my old habits. I am trying a new aproch this time, I crave sugar and salt, I can do slenda just fine but salt is hard for me some times. Need to learn how to work with my spices so I dont get burned out. I am on the Eating plan B so I feel i have a good varity of things to eat. This works you just have to be crative on how you spice it up.

I, too, got bored with egg whites, so I substituted a lean meat (from previous night’s dinner) for the protein I would get from the egg whites. I lost 15 pounds in the first six weeks. I then started walking 5 miles/day. Everyone noticed the differences..my face cleared up and looked younger, my hair grew longer, my nails grew, and, of course, I was trimmer. I stopped due to family tragedy and now am about to get back to this program. I really missed how much better I felt and looked! MR. THURMAN…you are a genious!


boil your eggs and take out the yellow yolk for it is high in cholestrol. the boil egg whites with pepper are tolerable.

  Exercise to build strength and endurance

Diets which are high in protein are more work for your kidneys. Diabetes and hypertension can both stress your kidneys. You should check with your doctor about where your kidney function is and if it is advisable/safe for you to be on a high protein diet. Salt and sugar restrictions are definitely good to ideas with Diabetes and Hypertension. Exercise that is moderate and tolerated to start and you increase gradually as you build strength and endurance is best.

  Low food budget

I am on food assistance, I only have $40.00 a week to spend on food. Is it possible to do this program with such a low food budget? I also have a severe case of Fibromyalgia which limits my exercise severely.


I am on this diet now. I can’t believe how good I feel – getting all the salt and processed yuk out of my system. I was always feeling sluggish and tired and I feel great.   Gastric bypass

I am like other people who are disabled, in a wheelchair was hit by a car, weigh 366 pounds and tired of not living.. I so want to order the Michaels program but if I can only take 2 steps max without falling how can I possibly lose weight.. I tried this diet about 6 years and lost 35lbs in about8weeks. stayed on diet until i lost my sister and became depressed and started to eat all the foods that i had not eaten while on the diet. I have tried the diet recently but wasn’t motivated to really stick with it but am going to try again because it really deos work. if you are thinking about trying it, you really should because it really works.

I am wondering if I will have time to do this. I get up at 5:00 AM every morning, leave the house around 6:30 AM to arrive at work @ 8:30 AM. Have 30 minute lunch break, finally get home at 7:00 PM. I don’t think it would have enough time to exercise that long and time for food preparation. I have to go to bed no later than 9:30 PM, otherwise I cannot get up in the morning. Is that program for me? I am on Jenny Craig and have lost 30 lbs so far.


Karen – best advice I can give is to prepare everything for the week on Sunday. It will take a few hours but save you a ton of time during the week. I have a similar schedule and this has worked the best for me and my family. Plus, you will get extra energy from fitting in even a 20 min workout a few times a week.


Karen I have a similar schedule and am a single Mother of a 7 year old. I ordered my 6 wbmo 5/2/11 and started 5/23/11…today is day one of week 6:) I’ve lost 32 pounds!!!!!!!!! I’ve struggled all my life with finding a plan that works for me and THIS DOES. I’m not doing the 18 minute custumized work out, instead, I’m doing Zumba 4 nights a week. Anyone interested should really give this plan a try. I have about 4 pounds to go but am CONFIDENT that I won’t have any problems.

I bought boneless, skinless chicken breasts at Costco in the bulk package. Baked them in the oven in a turkey roasting pan. Let them cool in the refrig. Cut them into 1″ or so cubes. Got some cheap (not self-closing) sandwich bags at Smart & Final (1,000). I weighed 2oz of chicken and put them into a baggie and sealed it w/ my my seal-a-meal. I stacked them up in a plastic shoebox in my freezer. Packaged my food the nite before into (5) small containers w/salad or veggies on the bottom & chicken on top w/ a frozen lemon cube for dressing. (I freeze lemon juice into ice cubes & keep them in a zip lock bag in the freezer)
Everywhere I go, I have my cooler w/ me & take a couple of minutes to eat when it’s time. I schedule my eating time (like you would for a baby!). I have (3) one quart GLASS bottles that I drink eveyday. I fill them up the nite before to have them ready to go. I have a little carrying case with a handle to carry them to and from the car. It’s about taking care of yourself & babying yourself to health & well-being. It becomes a very GOOD HABIT. As for the body make-over part, I didn’t do that. Only had time for the 30 minute walk & proper eating. As I mentioned before, I did the RAPID LOSS 1 week plan & lost 9.75 lbs. He says you can lose 12 lbs. But I cheated a couple of times and ate desserts. Not a small amount of weight to lose in a week. Not healthy to do on a regular basis, but the normal amount is about 5 lbs. per week. Still higher than an M.D. would recommend. But, is being overweight healthy? If you see fast results, you’re more inclined to stick with it. I wish you much success! Linda

I ordered the product a week before I went on my cruise. When I came back I didn’t start it right away. I weighed 450 lbs and 6 oz when I went to the doctor two weeks ago. I decided to start the plan this past Monday but I have not started the exercise portion of it. I went to the Dr’s today and I have lost 12 lbs. I am very excited and will move forward with the program. The only problem that I have is I need more flavor to my food so I will be researching to find alternatives to fats and salts.



You can use Chili Powder, oregano, minced garlic, parsley, dill, cayenne pepper, black/white pepper, red pepper flakes. Any combination of these spices can be used and you will never know that there is no salt in it. I had bought this product about 8 years ago and did it for a short while since I was too busy to stick to it and I came across the box in the attic and I decided to start it again. I prefer to lose weight slowly so that I will not end up gaining it back quickly. After about a month I have lost about 10 pounds, several inches and excess water weight. I have to admit that I have not done much exercise but I am pretty content with the results. Yes we are human and we will cheat once in a while but the good thing about this program is that you can start up again and keep going. Good luck to everyone who is doing this program. Hi Lisa. All dieters have different weight loss results. Some users loose weight faster/slower than others. You might benefit from taking supplements meanwhile.

Heather, stick to it. I am on it two weeks and it does work. Just have to prepare foods a head of time so you can grab if you get hungry. I don’t crave sweets anymore. I read material over again and it sinks in. You have to drink the water also. I haven’t exercised as much but the weight is coming off. Stick with it, it works.


How is your program so far and what kind of sweets did you eat in the 1st 2 weeks that still allowed your cravings for sweets to disappear.

I just started it this week. You blueprint out your body by answering specific questions about your eating habits and other things. You then take cards with different body shapes until you find the one that looks like you, after that you customize your eating for your body type. Im a A type and i mainly get protein a small amount of carb and fruit and veggies. No bread, milk or sugar products. I would suggest, put about 4 or 5 chicken breasts in a crock pot and cook up alot of chicken and other low fat proteins ahead for the week, and have a scale to weigh out the portions. I lost 3lbs this morning, going to see how it goes. Hope this helps someone.

This program is amazing – if you follow it. You have to be dedicated at it. There is cooking, there is planning, there is exercise – there is a lifestyle change that you have to make. Everytime I see someone diss this program I get so angry. How can eating healthy and exercising be wrong. Those that complain about it didn’t do it right and didn’t bother to email the helpline for assistance. Don’t blame this program – look inside yourself. I have lost weight on this program and kept it off and am healthy because of the “Thurmond” life choices I continue to make.

1st i ordered the slim in 6 to which i am returning and contemplating getting this one from micheal thurmond, I have been working out at the gym for almost a year and have changed what i buy for food,for the better but i still have not lost any weight so i am praying that this works ! does anyone have any suggestions and is there anyone on here that has gotten good results?


It does work if you work it, my daughter has lost 35 pounds in 8 weeks! It’s not for anyone who does not want to really make a change. Along the way I had to motivate her to stick with it because it is not easy. She finished the 6 week program and is going on to continue with the lean diet plan that he has.

you can do this plan correctly even if you are a vegetarian! Program is totally worth it!!

Serve quality food to your children

Honestly, you won’t be making food for yourself that you would be doing a disservice to you children to feed them. The focus is lean meats, vegatables, and low sugar fruits (depending on your body type). All foods you should be feeding a growing child anyway. You get grains, potatoes and rice too. You have to learn the correct forms and ways to cook them though. Using spices, no salt. Salt, Sugar, wheat and dairy are not allowed during your weight loss (read book for details. Salt retains water, sugar is empty calories, some people are allergic to wheat and gain. When you reach your goal you can add these things back in moderation of course. Anyway, you would prepare your proteins, veggies and fruits for you and your children, and your children can have ADDITIONAL grains, dairy and etc for them. You just have to have the willpower not to eat them. Things like meats can be all cooked on Sunday for the entire week, can freeze cooked for easy meal preps. Can buy frozen veggies if preparing fresh is too much work. In the long run, your children will learn healthier eating habits.

The review is not quite correct. In FACT, you are supposed to work up to exercising 4-5 days per week in the form of long walks, at least an hour at your heart rate (which instructions to find are in the materials). The “30 minutes” in the review is incorrect. First, its 20 minutes, second, its twice a week and third, the exercise spoken of in that 20 minutes is the muscle working routines using the exercise band. Those SCULPTING workouts are IN ADDITION, to long walks for cardio. And it works. I’ve lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks. No its not the 30 spoken of in the commercial, but is correct for someone like me who had less than 30 lbs to lose. Those more grossly obese will lose far more in those 6 weeks, just because they have more to lose, and IF THEY STICK TO THE PLAN EXACTLY. No cheating. End of story. And reviewers really SHOULD read the whole plan before writing a review.


Actually grossly was not intended in the term gross as in disgusting, it is termed as high in number. I would rather be known high numbered than deadly obese. To be politically correct maybe you should google terms before you misquote yourself and sound dumb.

The proper medical terminology is morbidly obese..just for a FYI, and it is written in medical records that way. It isn’t in insult…just a term used.


To be politically correct it’s morbidly obese—grossly obese has such a negative connotation affiliated with it–unless that was your intention.


My husband and I just started week 2 and I’m down 7 lbs and he is down 11 lbs. Obviously, a lot of that is water weight but it is amazing what a week does. Stick to it and it DOES work. It does take a lot of prep time but if you put that time in, you are more likely to stay on it. Use the help line for any questions..they are great! Also, look at their recipies..it helps add some flavor to the meals so you don’t get sick of the same stuff. Good luck to everyone!

This really does work. If you read the info that comes with it, it just makes sense! The key is being prepared, and using food you like so you don’t want to eat off plan! I bought this plan several years ago (the price has dropped since then)and it was worth EVERY penny!! There is so much FREE info and support online and in the printed material, there is NO WAY in won’t work!! I saw the add on TV last night and was impressed

I saw the add on TV last night and was impressed. I weighed 543 7 years ago had RNY surgery lost a bunch. Now staying around 400 lbs. I have very limited activity.
I have destroyed my knees, had a major malabsorbtion problem and have several health issues as a result.
Is it logical to think that a program like this will really help me? I know I need to find a way or I will just die soon. I do not have the money for this program. Is there a way I can earn the program. I’m and LPN with alot of experience with research and diet programs. Is there a way I can get the program without a monitary output????? Thanks for your time. I’ve tried it – it works. If you can afford then work alone with just eating 2 oz good lean protein morning, mid morning, lunch, mid afternoon and dinner. protein with a fruit & oatmeal for breakfast, Protein & fruit at midmorning, protein, vegetable or salad, small potato or rice for lunch, protein & vegetable for mid afternoon and repeat lunch at dinner but can change protein/vegetables around. Then exercise & drink lots water, no salt, sugar, bread, or much dairy. It works

Its low impact exercise 5-6 days a wk. the 30 min is for the 15-18 min sculpting program twice wkly. It just requires alot of planning meals so u r prepared. so far so good

I think that you all need to lay off a person. I beleive that with healthy eating and exercise you can do this. Whether it following a so-called diet fad, or Michaels way of making a change in your lifestyle. Yes if you want wait-loss right away go for the fad diets, but be warned you will not be happy. Now if you are ready to make a lifestyle change I suggest following this plan. You also have to have faith in yourself and the change. And Michael says in order to lose weight you need 45-60 minutes of exercise to lose fat not 30 min.


The negatives reviews are from lazy and people who want a magic pill to fix what they have done to themselves. Yes, you have to cut out salt and chop and cook a little more, but the results are worth it. I’ve lost 8 lbs in the first week and that is better than most programs out there. Do the accerlerated plan and you include cardio which DOES make perfect sense to you fitness naysayers. I am a fan of the program, you aren’t starving, you will feel good and you will lose weight if you stick to the plan. Try lemon, pepper, garlic…etc…you will never miss the salt. Buck up you lazy’s, get off the couch and try some fruit for a change, maybe you won’t be so cranky from not having fat and salt in your diet!
