PhD Diet Whey Review - 6 Things You Need to Know

PhD Diet Whey is a whey protein supplement designed to help users control their weight and build muscle. PhD Diet Whey claims it has a “premium high protein blend.” While a premium high protein blend supplement would be very appealing to certain people, a quick look at the ingredient list does not support that claim.

To find out the quality of the protein blend, our team of researchers did extensive research to see if PhD Diet Whey’s protein blend is high quality. Here are the results of our team’s research.

PhD Diet Whey can be purchased through their Official Site.

Overview

What is PhD Diet Whey?

First, PhD Diet Whey ingredients include milk protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, soy protein, reduced-fat cocoa powder, L-carnitine, sunflower oil powder, and matcha green tea. To use this supplement powder, you add one scoop to 175ml of cold water. It is consumable up to three times a day. The purpose of this shake is to help build muscles, boost energy levels, nourish the body, and aid with weight management.

From what we gathered, PhD Diet Whey has been on the market since at least 2010. This supplement shake is available in several flavors, including white chocolate, strawberry delight, banana, cherry bakewell, and vanilla crème. It’s easy to buy online via Amazon, and it provides 17 grams of protein per serving, but read on for some research into whey and weight loss.

  • The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition – “Intentional weight loss in obese older adults is a risk factor for muscle loss and sarcopenia.” But, whey protein supplementation protects against muscle loss.
  • The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry – It’s thought that whey helps regulate blood sugar levels, so it keeps hunger at bay.
  • Journal of Food Science – “Skeletal muscle is an integral body tissue playing key roles in strength, performance, physical function, and metabolic regulation” and supplemental protein “has been found to stimulate muscle protein synthesis to a greater degree than other proteins such as casein and soy.”

Taste

Unpleasant Taste

The first thing that concerned us was the flavor. According to our Research Editor, “Many customers have complained about the overall taste and texture of PhD Diet Whey powder. Naturally, this is concerning because if you can’t drink this protein shake, it won’t help you lose weight.”

One user commented, “Tastes awful, far too sweet.”

“I have one thing to say about the taste: Foul. Intolerably sweet!” said another customer.

Then again, one user offered, “It’s an okay protein shake, but doesn’t mix too well.”

Side Effects

PhD Diet Whey Side Effects

The PhD Diet Whey side effects are another concern. One individual stated, “I have never experienced such bad tummy aches and diarrhea.”

“I replaced breakfast and dinner, and I feel horrendously sick,” said another person.

But not all user comments are discouraging. One customer posted, “Curbed my hunger a bit, which is good.”

Our research has shown if there is some particular part of a protein shake or weight-loss supplement that is very concerning or difficult (unsavory flavor, side effects, high cost), the odds of long-term success are not very good. So, if PhD Diet Whey does taste unpleasant to many people, this could be problematic.

Research

The Science

First off, the protein and amino acids in PhD Diet Whey should help with muscle building. Also, green tea may help boost metabolism. On the other hand, the official website does not present any clinical studies to support this supplement as an effective weight-loss aid. At DietSpotlight, we prefer to see some published research before we get behind a product.

What Users Are Saying

“Excellent product that I use both for bulking and cutting. Low in sugar and fats and packs a good protein punch. Also contains green tea extract to aid fat loss. Tastes lovely, mixes well and is a steal when it’s on sale.”

“The flavour of this product was decent enough and it gave me a good pick me up after a gym session. It was also good value for money considering how much you get in each product. Though it didn’t particularly help with my workouts and fitness, not that I noticed.”

“It’s disgusting, doesn’t really matter how well it blends or the stats if you can’t stomach it.”

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line – Does PhD Diet Whey Work?

So, should you run out and buy PhD Diet Whey? Well, first of all, we like that this powder supplement provides a good amount of protein. We also appreciate that several different flavors are available. But we have some reservations about it because no documented research is posted on the company website. Also, we’re concerned about the side effects some people have experienced, as well as the less-than-savory taste.

If you’d like to drop more pounds of fat, then we suggest you go with a program that’s clinically proven to help you lose weight and keep it off for good.

Among the best products we’ve seen this year is one called Noom. This program uses a unique combination of human coaching, personalized meal plans, food and exercise tracking and more and comments around the internet show people are seeing real results.

The makers of Noom are so excited about their product they’re offering a free trial offer, which is very reassuring.
