Pre Jym is a pre-workout supplement created by JYM to help create a more successful and energetic workout. They claim their product has 13 hand-picked ingredients in fully disclosed amounts with no additional fillers. We love that the website claims no proprietary secret blend, and invites us to take a look at their ingredient lists. The problem is… we couldn’t find any ingredient lists on the company website.
Due to the lack of information they provide, our research team was concerned about the actual ingredients and uses. Our research team looked deeper into what is in Pre JYM and if it can meet up to claims. Here’s what we found.

What is Pre Jym?
First of all, Pre Jym is a pre-workout “powerhouse” powder for promoting muscle growth, ramping up energy levels, increasing strength and boosting endurance so you can enjoy longer, more intense workouts. This supplement powder is available in Pre Jym flavors such as black cherry, refreshing melon, strawberry kiwi, cherry limeade, raspberry lemonade, natural island punch, orange mango, and rainbow sherbet.
You’ll also find L-leucine (3g), Black pepper (piper nigrum) (5mg), Alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline (150mg), L-isoleucine (1.5g), L-tyrosine (1.5g), Huperzine A (50mcg) and Caffeine Anhydrous (300mg).
Note that this fitness supplement does contain 300 milligrams of caffeine per serving, so watch for side effects if you choose to use it more than once daily, especially if you drink caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and energy drinks. The directions warn against mixing Pre Jym with other caffeine products.
The Mayo Clinic says that up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day appears to be safe. A basic cup of coffee contains about 100 milligrams while energy shots and drinks average around 200 milligrams per serving. When considering taking the supplement, you should always factor in all caffeine sources you’re consuming.

Pre Jym Benefits
Okay, here is a closer look at the benefits you could see while using Pre Jym pre-workout powder.
More intense workouts
Higher energy levels
Enhanced muscle strength
Better endurance and stamina
Bigger muscle pumps and growth
The formula of Pre Jym is broken down into the following matrices:
Power/Strength & Endurance Matrix
Maximal Pump/Vascularity & Energy Amplifier
Fatigue-Fighting Anabolic Activator
Focus & Drive Intensifier
The Pre Jym website also says that the product has no proprietary blends, aka keeping “the doses of each ingredient secret” on the label. Some companies would argue that this is because the formula is so good that they want to avoid having it stolen by competitors.
Pre Jym says that proprietary blends “allow supplement companies to hide how little of each ingredient they’ve actually put in a product. This results in cheap, under-dosed, ineffective supplements.”
“Pre JYM doesn’t use proprietary blends. Take a look at its supplement facts panel, and you’ll see the actual doses of all 13 ingredients. I have nothing to hide. I’m proud of the amount of each and every ingredient I’ve included.”
Since this is a pre-workout product, it is intended to be combined with regular exercise and strength-training to get the results that are mentioned.
How to Take Pre Jym
To use the Pre Jym powder, you need to add one scoop to 14 ounces of water and mix well. Drink this 30-45 minutes before your workouts. Though it is a bit unclear, it appears that this fitness supplement should only be used once per day.
Pre Jym Ingredients
We’re going to hone in on the important ingredients in the Pre Jym supplement to give you a better idea of what each substance has to offer along with the research that supports it.
According to Examine.com, creatine hydrochloride is a molecule that’s often added to supplements to help support cellular function and enhanced workout performance. It’s naturally found in (produced by) the body as well as in meats, fish and eggs.
A research from Current Sports Medicine Reports (CSMR) has shown that creatine supplementation can help improve muscle performance and boost workout intensity, especially for weight training.
Beta-alanine is a building block of the dipeptide carnosine. It’s often added to workout supplements to help improve overall endurance and exercise performance, as stated on Examine.com.
The International Journal of Sports Medicine says, “The effect of 30 days of beta-alanine supplementation (4.8 g per day) on resistance exercise performance and endocrine changes was examined in eight experienced resistance-trained men. Results indicate that four weeks of beta-alanine supplementation can significantly improve muscular endurance during resistance training in experienced resistance-trained athletes.”
Beetroot is a red plant with a rich source of folate and manganese used for food, food coloring and medicinal purposes.
The journal Nutrientstells us, “In the human studies to date, beetroot supplementation has been reported to attenuate inflammation, avert oxidative stress, preserve endothelial function and restore cerebrovascular haemodynamics.”
According to PubChem, L-valine is a branched-chain essential amino acid that helps with tissue repairs, muscle growth, and energy levels.
Amino Acid Studies reports, “Valine, in particular, helps to stop muscles from breaking down during periods of strenuous exercise. It does this by supplying extra glucose to the muscles for extra energy during intense physical workouts.”
Also called betaine anhydrous or trimethylglycine, this substance is made in the body, and encourages proper liver function, carnitine production and cellular reproduction.
One study posted on Examine.com showed, “Oral supplementation of betaine at 2.5g daily over the course of two weeks appears to increase average (3.4%) and maximum (3.8%) peak power output on a cycling test (four 12s sprints against resistance) as well as average (3.3%) and peak (3.5%) mean power output relative to placebo.”
Amino Acids (Citrulline malate, Taurine, L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-tyrosine)
Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and they aid in muscle building and repairs. They also help by strengthening the immune system, supporting weight loss, boosting sperm quality, fighting signs of aging, reducing inflammation, and assisting with the health of nails, skin and hair.
An amino acid supplementation study in the journal Clinical Nutrition says, “There was a significant overall increase in lean body mass during the supplementation period. There was a gradual increase in lean body mass to a value of 1.14 ± 0.36 kg above the basal value at 12 weeks.”
N-acetyl-l-cysteine is a substance derived from L-cysteine (an amino acid). It is an antioxidant and is often used to treat Acetaminophen poisoning, according to WebMD.
Also, LiveStrong states, “N-acetyl-L-cysteine offers antioxidants to help prevent inflammation and cell damage, which make it potentially useful for various health conditions.”
It is often sold under the patented name BioPerine and is found in a wide array of diet, health and fitness products.
Alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline
Often called Alpha-GPC, this is a cholinergic compound that is typically added to nootropics and mental performance supplements. It may also assist as a growth hormone supplement, according to Examine.com.
WebMD states that this is a substance taken from a plant called Chinese club moss. It’s often used to treat conditions such as mental decline, and muscle weakness.
A potent powder form of caffeine, which is typically used in supplements. Caffeine is a stimulant and mild diuretic. It affects the central nervous system and may elevate energy levels, focus, concentration and performance.
According to MedlinePlus, caffeine is a natural stimulant and is taken from plants, such as tea leaves, coffee beans, guarana, yerba mate, and cacao pods.
Some research posted on Harvard Health Blog has shown that caffeine may help boost memory and thinking skills.
Pre Jym Taste
Many Pre Jym users have found the taste too sweet or unpalatable, but there are also several online reviews that suggest the taste is not too bad. After a certain point, taste is a subjective matter.
One user said “I usually do not have a problem with taste even if its pretty bad, this one is just too sweet for my liking, I went with the cherry limeaide (sic) flavor and I even mix with about 20-22 ounces of water and it is still very sweet.
“I assume they had to do this to mask the amount of ingredients in this product as the scoops are pretty large at 26.5 grams per serving. The product also burns my stomach a bit after I am done drinking it, this once again could be contributed to amounts of specific ingredients in this product. Overall taste 7/10.”
While a less satisfied customer said on Bodybuilding.com forums “I love this PWO despite it’s high pricetag. However, I thought the cherry limeade was pretty gross. Tasted like cough medicine, once I was near the end of my bottle, I would feel like vomiting from the taste and bloating I get from drinking so much of it. ”
Pre Jym Side Effects
Based on the user feedback we found online, some Jym Pre workout side effects people have experienced include the following:
A warning on the product’s label does point out that Pre JYM contains 300 milligrams of caffeine per serving, which is the equivalent of about three cups of plain black coffee. You should avoid using this supplement with any other caffeinated products.
Also, WebMD points out that when too much is consumed, “caffeine can cause nervousness and restlessness, stomach irritation, nausea and vomiting, increased heart rate and respiration, and other side effects.”
Since this pre-workout product also contains huperzine A and creatine, it may cause some other side effects. For instance, Drugs.com points out that Huperzine A can lead to, “adverse reactions including nasal obstruction, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, thirst, and constipation.”
In addition, the Mayo Clinic reports that creatine may lead to side effects including muscle cramping, fever, weight gain, nausea, dizziness, water retention, dehydration, diarrhea and gastrointestinal pain.
ConsumerLab clarifies that “this warning is legally required by the state of California for dietary supplements and many other products sold in that state which expose you to levels of one or more chemicals that may cause reproductive harm.
The list of chemicals that can trigger a warning includes hundreds of compounds but, unfortunately, the California law (known as Prop 65 or the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) does not require businesses to say exactly which compound is the reason for the warning.”
ConsumerLab also clarifies that California is the only state that requires this warning on supplement labels.

How fast you see results depends on a few different factors, such as how much you workout, your diet plan, and how your body responds to Pre Jym powder. Some customers also reported no energy boost at all from this pre-workout supplement.

What Users Are Saying
“Getting real ingredients at the right dose at the right time has given me great results. The flavor of this melon is off the charts. It’s very nice to sip on first thing in the morning. No crash from nasty, unnecessary stimulants. This will give you the burst you need to crush a workout and make it through the rest of your day. The only stimulant is caffeine!”
“After all the hype I was expecting more. There was nothing wrong with it; the flavor was good, but it made me feel bloated while I worked out.”
The Bottom Line on Pre Jym
We must admit that Pre Jym offers an impressing ingredient formula to help build muscles, boost endurance and speed up recovery after workouts. Not to mention, this pre-workout powder comes in several flavors, which gives customers some options. Then again, there are a few concerns we have as well:
Plenty of users have complained that Pre Jym powder is too clumpy and tastes unpleasant.
Jym does not provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which means you’re unlikely to get a refund if needed.
This fitness supplement may cause some unwanted side effects like nausea, upset stomach and headache, at least according to some customers.
If you really want to take your workouts to the next level, build those muscles and boost vitality, consider a product that contains a clinically tested ingredient formula, but does not have an unpleasant flavor.
