Xenadrine Next Gen Review - 9 Things You Need to Know

Xenadrine Next Gen is “powerful,” or so the description says made with a patented pill design. When our research team stumbles on words like that, there’s no doubt they’ll jump right in to see if the ingredients support the claims, if science backs the formula, and if the formula may work as claimed. Let’s take a look at what we found after hours of research.

Overview

What is Xenadrine Next Gen?

Xenadrine Next Gen is essentially a fat burner that comes as a 60-count supplement, but the manufacturer also claims it can positively affect energy and focus, as well. The neuro, or focus, products were all the rage before keto started, but now making such a claim doesn’t hold the weight it once did.

The marketing behind the Xenadrine Next Gen dietary supplement is pretty good. Word choices like nano bead science, neurosensory, scientifically dosed, unique, and trusted are just a few that Xenadrine hopes will lure in the reader and convince them to make the buy.

Who’s Behind the Weight-Loss Formula?

The company behind the supplement is Xenadrine. This isn’t the only product the company sells, but it is one of the newer products available. The design uses advanced dual capsule technology. This type of delivery system is typically used to extend the time the supplement works. For instance, after the stomach dissolves the first capsule and the ingredients enter the intestine to be absorbed, the second capsule starts the same process – thus the extended release.

Where Xenadrine dropped the ball is with customer support. We read every page on the official website and found no contact information, customer service phone number, or even an email address.

But, if you take a few minutes to read the entire Privacy Policy, the very last paragraph lists an address in Canada people can use to contact the company.

What are the Xenadrine Next Gen Ingredients?

The Xenadrine Next Gen supplement facts label is a little confusing at first because the company has chosen to list the B vitamins in the formula. B vitamins are often explained as energy boosters, but that’s an exaggeration. The body uses B vitamins in the production of energy, but taking more than the body can use in a short time means the remaining vitamin is passed out during urination.

The active ingredients in the weight-loss supplement are:

  • Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil
  • Clarinol
  • Robusta Coffee Bean
  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Longan Extract
  • Nutmeg
  • Theacrine
  • Rhodiola Extract

Other inactive ingredients are gelatin, titanium dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.

Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil (MCT)

MCT is quite popular in the world of keto and paleo. The oil increases fat intake, which helps with ketosis and weight loss. But, in Xenadrine Next Gen, which was not developed for a high-fat diet, does have a history of research showing a possible positive effect on weight loss. In The Journal of Nutrition, a literature review of MCT oil showed, “MCT increase[s] energy expenditure, [and] may result in faster satiety and facilitate weight control.”

Clarinol

Clarinol is a brand of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). The information on CLA has been twisted and contorted so badly over the years that it’s hard to discern what’s true and what’s not. The official website for the brand lists five studies, all completed in 2011 or earlier, so there’s a gap in research. Some factors that leave us questioning the research include:

  • The analysis was completed on CLA, not Clarinol.
  • Long-term (six to 12 months, or longer) use of high doses (3000 to 4000 mg per day) was part of several studies.
  • There’s more talk about changes in body fat mass than weight.
  • The most recent study in the European Journal of Nutrition claims CLA doesn’t appear to aid weight loss. “The evidence from RCTs (randomized controlled studies) does not convincingly show that CLA intake generates any clinically relevant effects on body composition on the long term.”

Robusta Coffee Bean

Robusta coffee bean comes from the same plant as Arabica coffee beans, which many people use to brew coffee. The major difference between the two is Robusta contains nearly two times the caffeine of Arabica.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine, the most widely used drug in the world, works on the central nervous system to increase energy and focus. In some cases, at high enough doses, side effects may appear to benefit. For instance, large amounts of caffeine intake can cause nausea, but to a dieter that may feel like the loss of appetite or suppressed hunger, as promised.

Longan Extract

There is no clinically significant connection between longan fruit and weight loss. We did find a rat study from 2010 that showed reduced weight gain in rats fed hypercaloric (excessive calories) diets.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a spice commonly used in baking. There are claims that it can reduce pain, improve digestion, and even help with bad breath, but we were unable to find a sliver of evidence to support any of these claims.

Theacrine (Teacrine)

Theacrine is similar in structure to caffeine, which would account for the addition to Xenadrine Next Gen.

Rhodiola Extract

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, Rhodiola extract is commonly used to improve stamina, energy, and memory, among other benefits. However, the National Center goes on to say the studies used to support the claims are not powerful enough to be significant.

Possible Side Effects

Any Side Effects With Xenadrine Next Gen?

No, Xenadrine Next Gen doesn’t cause any side effects. No supplement causes side effects. It’s the ingredients in the supplement that cause issues with some users. That’s why companies can claim their supplement is free of side effects.

Based on the ingredients in the formula, the only side effect we’d imagine to be commonly reported would be associated with the caffeine. Too much caffeine, as measured based on a person’s tolerance, can leave you feeling:

  • Shaky
  • Jittery
  • Nausea
  • Anxious
  • Angry

Does Xenadrine Next Gen Work?

Each ingredient in Xenadrine Next Gen offers a benefit, of some sort. That benefit, in most cases, has nothing to do with weight loss and more often deals with more traditional health concerns like energy or anxiety.

The best ingredient this product has going for it is the caffeine, but there is some hope for longan extract and theacrine with further unbiased research.
