What You Should Know
DermaSlim by TruDerma claims to stop fat from storing, eliminate stored fat and prevent formation of new fat. This is quite a claim. To date, there are no supplements, prescription medications or topical creams that can live up to these claims, so we doubt DermaSlim will be the first. If the product were to work as claimed, dieters could lose all the weight they wanted with a simple application of the DermaSlim cream. We found no clinical trials on the website and an ingredient list is conveniently missing. An outside retailer lists the ingredients in DermaSlim.
List of Ingredients
Purified water (aqua), cetearyl alcohol, squalane, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, hyaluronic acid, polysorbate 60, sodium laurate, lauroyl proline, butylene glycol, chenopodium quinoa seed extract, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin.
Squalene is a moisturizer similar to the natural sebum or fat excreted through the pores in skin. Cyclopentasiloxane is also a moisturizer. Dimethicone is commonly used in shampoos to give hair a slippery feel. Hyaluronic acid can be used to treat eczema and wounds. Chenopodium quinoa seed extract is the active ingredient that TruDerma claims will reduce fat stores and prevent new fat stores. There are plenty of other companies that make the same claims, but we found no clinical research to back up these claims.
The other ingredients in DermaSlim are preservatives or base ingredients to hold active ingredients in cream form. They have no effect on weight loss or fat reduction.
DermaSlim sells for a whopping $90 a tube. There are only 4 ounces in each bottle. That is far too expensive for a cream that does not have any clinical backing.

There is a long list of cellulite creams. Most contain caffeine. The caffeine dehydrates the space between the fat cells making skin appear smoother and thinner. These products do work and will cause the body to look smoother, but not smaller. DermaSlim contains no caffeine. Instead, it uses an extract from quinoa. Quinoa is a grain that is extremely healthy. As a diet food, quinoa is one of the best grains a dieter could choose, but as a fat reducing cream ingredient, there could be some room for improvement. The cream costs $90 a tube. The small tube will cover only a small portion of the body. We assume the cream must be used for an extended time for optimal effect, which means the dieter will have to buy multiple bottles.
