The Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism DVD is 40 minutes of intense circuit training. The DVD is available on Amazon.com for $9 and the customer reviews are spectacular. However, the reviews also state the workout is extremely difficult for even the fittest people. This is clearly not a DVD for dieters trying to lose weight. Jillian Michaels is a professional personal trainer and star trainer on the Biggest Loser. She is known for pushing people beyond their level of comfortability and into the fat blasting zone. For the beginner, it is best to follow short portions of this workout instead of attempting the entire workout from the start.

It is important to note heart rate and response to a workout several times during the DVD. You should be able to respond to questions with a bit of difficulty. If you cannot talk or feel faint any time during the workout, walk in place or rest for a few minutes until your heart rate drops.

The workout lasts for 40 minutes and covers every muscle group and cardio. No fitness equipment is needed to complete the workout, but a mat is shown in video stills. Some portions of the workout have more than one person following Jillian. During the floor work section, there is one follower and Jillian instructs that follower through the workout.

We like the fast-paced, total body workout, but customer reviews reveal more than the product description. Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is a difficult workout. The workout is broken into six-minute circuits. There are seven circuits in all. We did not see a mention of warm-up, cool-down or stretching in the video. If these are not included it is important that the dieter warm-up and stretch before the DVD and cool-down and stretch after the DVD. This helps prevent injuries.

Despite the fact that the DVD is clearly marketed to women, men can easily follow along. Most of the movements involve jumping, so apartment dwellers on upper floors should use the DVD with caution.
