What You Should Know
Piloxing is a unique mix of pilates and boxing. It was said to be invented by Swedish dancer and celebrity trainer Viveca Jensan. It is reportedly a fat blasting and muscle toning exercise for women, aiming to attain a sleek, sexy and powerful self image. It is a popular choice for women who are already into pilates exercise. Because of its benefits, it is said to become very popular among the celebrities and slowly spread towards women with daily jobs and home makers.
VPilates stated it is a training institute specializing in piloxing. It supposedly has instructional routines on daily and weekly basis for the members. The institute reportedly also released a dvd ($19.95) with all the training and instruction on piloxing. This dvd is suppose to be good for people who cannot attend the VPilates piloxing training session at its studio.
VPilates claims to also offer courses to become a piloxing instructor. It is suppose to be best for people who have existing pilates experience. This 9-hr course states it teaches you the basic foundation and training methodology of piloxing and provides you with all the tools and resources you will need to teach a full length piloxing Level 1 class.
List of Ingredients
Instructor or instructional DVD, piloxing gloves, piloxing wear and towels.
Piloxing is supposed to blend the power, speed and agility of boxing with the sculpting and flexibility of pilates. In addition to Pilates and boxing movements, the exercise also states it incorporates the use of weighted gloves which add to the workout by toning the arms and maximizing cardiovascular health. The dvds are suppose to be easy to learn and claim that they can be used at the comfort of home without going to any piloxing training institute.
- Supposedly a very good substitute for aerobics
- Supposedly complete cardio vascular workout
- Costly start up cost
- Cannot ( shouldn’t ) be done without instructor or instructional dvd
- Not a fitting exercise for all body types and weights.
Piloxing is supposed to be for people with “go-out and exercise” kind. It is suppose to be a complete substitute of any cardio vascular exercise on planet. While it is recommended exercise for women with moderate / highly toned body, who want to now, move to next level, it doesn’t promise anything. It claims it can be started at home, along with an instructional dvd and few simple piloxing equipments. I would personally pass on the piloxing as it is quite expensive and exercise is exercise with or without spending hundreds of dollars.
