Piracetam is a nootropic drug that has been studied to treat neurological and brain disorders, like dementia and seizures. While it is unknown exactly how Piracetam works, it influences neuronal, vascular and cognitive functions. It is not a sedative or a stimulant. Patients taking Piracetam have been noted with increased blood flow and oxygen to the brain, but researchers speculate that it may be due to increased brain activity.

Website Details

The website is loaded with information on Piracetam’s supposed effect on more than a hundred conditions and symptoms. Conditions including such diverse health issues as Alzheimer’s, alcoholism, brain injury, circulatory disorders, deafness, dyslexia, heart disease, mental functions, stroke, sickle cell anemia, childbirth, myoclonus, Raynaud’s disease, vertigo, and a host of other miscellaneous illnesses are listed. There is no information about the drug itself, how it’s made, what it’s made from, or how long it has been on the market. Each of the links led to an abbreviated description of a research study, with no sources cited.

The Good

  • You can purchase this unbelievable wonder drug without a prescription for less than $20.00

The Bad

  • The only thing this website does not claim Piracetam does is promote weight loss.
  • No information was available onsite about the manufacturer.
  • There are no links to sources for the cited studies that the Piracetam.com website bases its claims on.
  • The wild claims made on the website remind us of snake oil sales tactics.

Conclusion

We do not recommend Piracetam, and in fact urge you to stay away from it. This product is under testing for use in treating diseases of the brain. Information about the manufacture of the drug is not available on the website. While it does mention elevating seratonin levels, self-medicating with a potentially dangerous drug that changes brain chemistry would not be wise. In addition, it is not a diet product and there is no evidence that weight loss studies have been done. All of the links we followed led to small trials conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s. We believe that it is significant that the studies were not followed with additional research. If this were truly a miracle drug, there would be tremendous press about it.

To create a viable, safe weight loss plan, purchase an appetite suppressant or fat burner from a trustworthy source and eat a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, unsaturated fats, and quality whole grains that you can maintain for life. Get at least thirty minutes of moderate exercise per day and watch the pounds melt away.

carol it is not growth hormone(GH) derivative, it is GABA derivative, however even if it is GABA derivative, some researches concluded that it inhibits the activity of GABA which leading to one of its side effects/ adverse reaction called depression. There is no exact information of this drug(piracetam), studies are still ongoing. In fact it is not recognized by FDA, however it is still allowed in the US for personal use only, it is still not legal and it is not illegal.

I have taken this for over 3 years. This truly does work for me as far as a sharper memory and just a feeling of being centered. My son was taking it for ADHD and I decided to take it for those ‘Senior Moments’ and it truly made a difference. I can tell when I don’t take it as I get a bit ‘fuzzy’. I cut back to one capsule per day as it does invigorate my thinking process and my thoughts were keeping me from getting to sleep. Everybody is different so I suggest experimenting until you find the right dose for you.
By the way, I have read what I can find on Piracetam and it is a dirivative of the Human Growth Hormone. It does supply more oxygen to the brain. And, there are no negative side effects. Don’t know why there isn’t more information on it. I know it is an inexpensive way to treat ADD & ADHD.

I can tell you from experience that Piracetam does work. It’s not going to turn you into a genius but it does significantly improve mood and concentration. Also, how can you say that it’s dangerous when there have been countless peer-reviewed sources that attest to it’s safety. Secondly, your website is obviously not reliable as a source because you are marketing several other products. In conclusion, Piracetam works and your website is questionable at best!
